When you finish a track

Are you ever completely satisfied when you finish a track.
Or do you always feel like more needs to be done. Do you
finish a track if you get bored of it?

Does the benefit of hindsight make you realise the track
is indeed finished? Or does it make you wanna go back and
add or subtract more. Do you have specific techniques to
finish your tracks, such as fades, delays, reverbs etc?

How do you finish yours?

:D

it depends. sometimes it feels finished, sometimes it feels
abandoned.

yeah...
But when I abandon tracks, I don't call them finnished...
I have a huge pile of tracks I've started.
Some are really good enough (or close enough) to be
completed.

I find it hard to leave them alone even when they are done.

When I upload a song I'll RARELY ever go back and change
shit.

I try to wait a day after finishing a song to listen to it
over and over and over again and pick fuckups out and fix
them but this doesn't always happen. A lot of my tracks have
fuckups, I forgot to put a noteoff on something in the boc
rmx i uploaded (no one seemed to notice though hehe) etc
etc.

Sometimes i find it better to leave thigs as they are
because chances are that somebody won't notice something
that you fucked up slightly.

thn ths s due to the fact that the wrter now everythng that
went nto a track so they notice more.

I daren't think how many tracks I've got and haven't
finished. The ones I've uploaded are the only ones I'd
consider finished in any state. One of them I uploaded in
demo form but that's it. I hav about 30 tracks on my
computer and only 7 or so would I call complete. I keep them
all though because they each have something in them that I
may want use at a later date.

About 70 finished, about 250 unfinished.

Some of the unfinshed ones are very short and I've just
rendered my favourite part of them off to wavs as a loop for
use in other tracks. (hence my acidised in reason question
in the other thread :)

Richard Fearless of DIV spent all the time he was at uni
working mainly just on Dirt (his first single).

I am not such a perfectionist. There is one track I still
want to record properly as an arrangment for strings and
another I which is a four movement piece of which one and a
half are done. The latter I'll probably finish within a year
or so, the other I probably never will.
