What about insurance? Surely your company must have some
kind of insurance on their goods?!?

i work for a publishing company. this container was shipped
to here, and arrived on friday. but, this morning, one of my
supervisors by accident, dispatched it out to singapore.

the container for singapore is still here!

he has been given a performance issue, and is still pending
some further action.

the problem is, i need to recover this container, and still
dispatch the singapore one, without blowing out the budget.
and well, its just not going to happen.

hasnt left the country yet, its just going to be a rather
large fuck up.

Well it's not your fault mate. You can't be blamed for
someone else sending it off to fucking Singapore! You're
trying to do what you've been asked but if it's not possible
then it's not possible. Tell them that as well if they start
giving you shit.

the line till they find a head to hang.

bassically, anything comming in or out of here is my
responsability.

keep yourself up , man
shit happens
remember - worrying more and more will not solve this
problem - try to concentrate and think intensive - :
the situation is ( as you say ) - youre fucked.
now - this is what you know , for now.
look at this like someone else - " what would i do "
then think again.
if you have some time for this - this is the way , i think
it works with me
i will keep my thumbs on ya

agree

the worse case scenario though, is your container goes to
Singapore, and it costs a couple grand to get it back. THey
will open it there, and go WTF????

then you have then return to sender.

that's the worst.

--------
course, vandals could break in and burn all the books. that
would be a bit worse.

offline hepburnenthorpe from sydney (Australia) on 2003-09-22 10:40 [#00873424]

fucking relief! turning out to be quite the funny story
really. ive located the container, and should even be able
to get it up here on favours.

the funny part is. last week, i had this same said
supervisor issue a warning to the transport company stating
something allong the lines of "in the future, our shipments
are not to go to your hold yard, but are to be despatched
straight to the shipyard". well, it now appears that the
company ignored this statement (or the driver ) and took our
container to there yard. and was going to take it to the
docks in the morning.

this is awesome news for us, as once it gets to the docks
theres all sorts of legalitys that can come into play,
aswell as some quarantine precedures, that could have meant
days and $.

instead, its sitting in a truck yard in sydney, and i should
be able to get it back up here and swapped over first thing
in the morning for little extra cost.

lovely, i can breathe again. poor steve (the super) i dont
think will be so lucky.

unforunately blatent. it costs a bit more than a few grand
to send a container to singapore. around $40k and then id
have to get it back, and still swap it.

if it had of left the country, my only profitable option
would have been to locate a buyer.

nah, he wont be fired. but its still got me fucked how he
could have done it. the containers all have rego numbers,
and they have to be checked against all sorts of paperwork.
its not like sending a fedex parcel.

we might need to look into hes abilitys. ive only been in
this position for around 12 mnths, and he has my old pos. i
dont know what he was doing.

lol, yeah, that's a big package to misplace/ship to the
wrong country :D

so, what kind of books is it anyway? I mean, is it like a
container full of Harry Potter??

you guys are cool. i was stressing so hard, and of course
all the people around here are so bussiness focussed. i just
wanted to say "what the fuck?" but its a little hard when
you have a finance manager saying he wont budge the budgets.

well, fuck that, managers need to be flexible. Shit
happens, and it's your job to make it right, but sometimes
things have to bend, not break!

These stupid managers. They all have contingencies that
they know that eventually they'll have to deal with, but up
until they do, they have to be such hard-asses about it. It
makes them feel cool.
