You mean pixel dimensions?

You could use:

Adobe Premiere
Media Cleaner Pro (now just called Cleaner I think after
being bought by Discreet)

also check out http://www.divx-digest.com for links to free
software that can do the job.

I wouldn't think 'file size' referred to pixel dimensions,
but that's just me.

the frame size is 512 x 288 right now..

and I need to change that to (720 x 576) (720 x 480) or (704
x 480).. and I need to know which of these is standard NSTC
4:3 aspect ratio..

can that be done in premier or cleaner?

video, filters, add, resize

make sure you use a 'precise bicubic' filter mode

this is gunna completely recompress you're avi, so yer gunna
have to pick what video codec you wanna use etc

why are you resizing the video? if its or a svcd or dvd or
something, you should be using tmpgenc instead of virtualdub

I found a program that'll take an avi file and do all the
work.. take it right to dvd

this whole thing is too goddamn complicated for my
patience.. what's the quickest way you could sum up the most
vital points of the dvd-authoring process?

oh

so you are doing dvd's then.
you don't want an avi file at all.

get TMPGenc

use the wizard, using one of the dvd profiles, then just use
the resulting mpeg file in yer dvd burning software i guess
