I don't quit watching movie's halfway through very often,
but then again I don't fall asleep in the middle of movies
very often.

I cancelled plans with friends to watch this in hopes that
it would be good. After about the first hour of this no
sense making boredom on film I fell asleep. Now I've wasted
the evening and am pissed.

i quite liked this movie.

you gotta watch it at least twice, let alone once to
thoroughly enjoy it. well, i had to anyway.

i'm only fond of the score playing at the end of the film.
other than that, on a scale of 1-10, i give it SHIT.

however, lesbians are good. and a crying woman fingering
herself is worth a laugh.

lol

the trick is to try and figure out which part is a dream,
and sometimes there are dreams IN dreams.

that is the only way to sort it ouy. Watch it with a
friend, and try to figure out your own ending. It's a lot
of fun that way, otherwise, yeah, you just get frustrated.

Honestly, everyone on this fucking page is an idiot except
BlatantEcho, and tibbar. Anyone into art, I don't care what
form, should at least give this movie a chance. Music,
storyline, characters interacting with eachother, camera
work. All of it is styled in an arty way. You must remember
that it was originally going to be a television show but got
canned half way so of course there will be some random shit
in there. It sucks that in this day in age nobody wants to
think about anything. They just want everything handed to
them. All you have to do is use your brain every once and a
while. If you want something to watch and waste your time
one Saturday night go and watch Legally Blonde. At least you
can jack off over Reese Witherspoon.

just because it's "art" doesn't mean it can't be shit.

hallooooooo

it's not because I don't like the way the movie is shot or
how Lynch does these movies...they're just not me.

All I'm saying is that Lynch is a player. Always has been,
always will be. You gotta give him some respect as an artist
no matter if you or the rest of the world might think that
it is shit. True, I myself could shit on a plate and call it
"art" in this day in age, however if having a huge cult
following and tons of awards is not a good true artist, you
can go get a big black vibrator and shove it in my ass
because I'm obviously the faggot here.

aranofsky is good.... i wont deny that.
and im dying to see him do this batman movie, if it ever
actually happens.

me personally, i just FEEl lynch... i know what he's trying
to say because i've thought of the same things, i think i
see things a similar way. it just clicks with me.

plus, the fact that SO many people hate his stuff is just
annoying, and its the same with kubricks stuff.

i like mullholland drive but its not the only type of movie
i watch

personally i like lynch because it makes you think more. the
plot isnt force fed and the imagery and atmosphere brings it
along quite nicely.

i like mindless comedic films and action films. but i think
its lame to limit yourself only to those.

yeah lynch just sort of clicks with me too. just feels right
when watching it.

then please explain to me what the fuck the flipmode in the
middle of Mulholland means???

And what about that ugly guys behind the fastfood-joint?

To me it's like he always try's to make a "there's a devil
that can control everything"-connection in every movie...
Please explain your point of view, cuz I would actually be
happy if I understood these movies

just need someone to explain, then I promise I will go home

this movie had classic Lynch humor - that keeps me going...
but my favorite element is when the blond girl starts to
actually act at the audition much better than so far into
the movie and then carries it out for the rest of said
movie
I should watch all of Twin Peaks again...

IMHO Mulholland Drive is one of the best films to be
released from hollywood in a looong time.

The thing is, this film is not about plot, it's about
atmosphere and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed the film even
if I didn't understand fuck all about what was going on.

what was the very first show after the beginning? its a
short shot, and alot of people think its meaningless. think
about it again. think about the character roles and how the
diner plays into it. the waitress diane, betty, dude... they
even explain the thrust of the film at winkies. you yourself
even said it. the lesbianinsm in this film has been SO blown
out of porportion that it seems no one understands the idea
behind it. character reversal, dude. rita becomes betty. she
steals betty's life. but even all of this is imaginary. this
is concocted in her mind. "time to wake up, pretty girl"

offline tibbar from harrisburg, pa (United States) on 2003-08-29 01:28 [#00841047]

there is no orchestra.... there is no conspiracy against
betty... it is all a dream. there are 2 kinds of dreams:
sureal subconscious fears and goals living out in a fake
life, and a real world based upon thos things.

but....then the "plot" is not real...and I feel like I have
got 2 hours of my life stolen...

I NEED a plot....

but hey, the movie was a beauty and a lot of people likes
it, so fuck it. I can't digest it.

like Terminator 3 - w/ the Terminatrix

offline tibbar from harrisburg, pa (United States) on 2003-08-29 01:30 [#00841052]

the plot is that its a REAL story, in the sense that it
happens in a less dramatic way in most peoples lives. the
plot? what, you need a villian to identify? in life, there
really IS someone behind that dumpster, though most are too
sceptical to imagine that when they peer into the dark, that
something looks back. THERE is your plot. good vs evil. same
as every other lynch film.

it is the crux by which all modern (i use that loosely)
literature and film is based. because it is the most obvious
and real idea there is: the struggle for happiness. the
struggle to find love. the struggle to win over forces that
suppress us.

the thing that makes this movie work is that it is a WORST
CASE SCENARIO. and hollywood HATES that with a passion. yet
this movie is aBOUT hollywood, as a personaification of what
is eveil in humanity.

I must give Lynch some credit for one thing though; He made
me feel like waking up after a dream that turned into
nightmare, where you want to know what happened in the good
part of the dream.

what i can respect about the movie:
the score
the film itself, as in what it was shot on, the black

shitty compared to lost highway, but then i saw it a second
time, it was better, and i also saw a documentary on the

as a very good movie thats it
the best scene is the guy scared of the strange man hidden

The MC has just told us "its all a recording", and when the
woman comes onstage and starts singing her heart out, we
STILL believe it's real... until she passes out and the
recording continues.

How beautifully fucking demonstrated. Amazing what we can
sell ourselves on when we want to believe.
