what the shit happened to my computer??!?!?!?!??!

one minute everything is running smoothly...the next i can't
open any of my executable files, or do anything. i
downloaded this version of norton antivirus 2004, and
installed it. afterwards nothing will work, and all my
system files seem to be "not found" and such...so i can't
uninstall it. i've done some online virus scans and they
don't detect anything...i have no idea what's going on.

HELP ME! PLEASE!

that happened to me aswell. dl'd norton and my PC was
ultra-shagged. Had to reformat. good luck but it looks like
you'll have to do the same unless you do a system restore.

'c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe'.

Sounds like your executable files have been sneakily
associated with something other than .exe... not sure how
you can put it right...

well. i'm going to go to work now...and when i come
back...this had better have fixed itself.
because...otherwise there will be much crushing of skulls
(shitting of pants) and drinking of blood (writhing in own
pool of urine).

*runs away crying*

There are several viruses that when removed make it
impossible to run executable files because they have messed
up your registry.

Here is a google on the subject. The Norton pages
on these viruses tell you how to rename regedit.exe to
regedit.com to rename and run it and reset the default
behaviour for opening executables. Read the instructions
carefully!

Of course the motherfucking Norton antivirus program is too
braindead to do this itself... fucking piece of shit, run
nod32 if you want a decent antivirus scanner.

Let me get this right...you downloaded Norton Antivirus from
Bittorrent? No offense but that was a bit stupid if you
did.

If there are two things you should get legititmately for
your computer it is an antivirus package and firewall.

I mean if you can't afford to buy an antivirus package why
not just use AVG from grisoft, it is a decent package with
free updates and Zonealarm firewall which is also free.

well. we all make mistakes. live and learn, yeah? and yeah,
i was a bit suspicious, but eh. looks like never paying for
anything finally caught up with me. heh.

thanks mr. fleetmouse..i'll give it a try, and if not...it's
time to do some reformatting. =*[

and norton is shit, yes, now i see. NOW I SEE. i'll look
into these others you mention as well. *sigh* this sucks.

no...it actually all looks much too technical for me to be
fussing with. i'm not that patient...nor am i really capable
of doing something like that. heh.

well. i'll be seeing you all sometime tomorrow or the next
day...or something. as soon as i have all this shit worked
out (what really gets me is that i'm going to have to set up
this damned wireless network again...it's really much more
complicated than it needs to be...or i'm just retarded, i
don't know).

even more shit entres on the side, and some sizzling
shitappetizers.
