Turned up yesterday..yay!!...Had a shit day, quickly turned
around by playing the title track at obscene volume...

...the other 2 on there aren't quite as good (growers rather
than grabbers) but still a nice return from LFO...

Came with a nice Nightmares on Wax - Know my Name Remixes
(Exclusive Fanbase CD) and a ultra-pink Luke Vibert I heart
Acid sticker & postcard thingy...

Gotta love Warp and their freebies!!...

it pained me to listen to freak, actually.

i thought it was a joke at first. maybe it is. though it
probably isnt.

oh well

you're missing the point i think. the whole premise of the
new lfo is that music goes round in circles and most new
music sounds so stale and repetative (ie, the same as the
last album by whoever) that boredon sets in. why bother
repeating the same shit unles youre only concerned with unit
sales? good fucking luck to him, i love it.

offline disasemble from United States on 2003-08-26 17:19 [#00837650]

i think thats just a personal thing, not a universal thing.

even if i got the point i still wouldnt think its any
better.

i think it will appeal most to the older 'rave' generation,
people who liked frequencies, NoW, tricky disco etc.
hopefully other artists will realise how stale and
introverted their music has become (dying to name names but
deciding not to! :) ) and follow suit.

Frequencies wansn't "ravish" to me. Acutally, frequencies
is the only album I think I like from LFO. I still haven't
heard anything like it - I can't say the same for Advance
and what we've heard of Sheath so far.

i agree w/ earthleakage about mark bell's point with his new
tracks. furthermore, techno is fun and very listenable
music, it doesn't have to sound mathematical or cutting
edge. good grief that stuff is T-I-R-E-D.

best part about buying the single at Other Music: getting to
brag to the guys about naming the 2 b-sides on "Freak". one
guy gave LFO a "shoutout" in his recent kraftwerk review on
othermusic.com.

pretty good, you should check it out if you havent seen it.
It has some strange Japanese school girls bustin' moves in a
playground!!!

not so nice song and not so nice video. It's not bad, but i
begin to feel a deja-vu, another video trying to emulate
Chris Cunningham explicitly... it can't be compared to its
predecessors just because it looks like a recycle. That
Plaid video directed by Pleix made me feel a similar way,
but at least had something original, an original look and a
nice concept and a structure that mantained the attention of
the spectator. This 'Freak' is just jap girls dancing,
nicely shot and edited, but nothing else. The song seems too
long for the idea.
Maybe it's that Warp is just about warped faces, but i don't
think so.
The best video that has come out of warp is Alex
Rutterford's Gantz Graf.

"nice one! :)

It's a video made for fans and by fans. It's a cross between
x and y but it can't be compared to any of them.

This track rocks! - proper techno. It sounds a lot better on
a decent system, mp3 doesn't do it justice.
