ok.. so I have an hour commute to and from work everyday. I
get alot of time to think about things. Today I was driving
home and I got this great idea for an awesome invention the
everyone will want. I won't tell you what it is because you
jerkfaces will steal my idea and take all the glory (read:
money).

Does anyone know what the process is for inventors who are
looking to maket their product? Do I sell my idea to a
company? How do I get a patent? How do I know if no one has
invented one of these handy-dandy-thingamabobs yet? If
they have, they haven't marketed it right cause I sure as
hell want one

Help! what do I do from here. How do I go from idea to
deed.

One free super-miracle-device-a-rino for whoever helps me
out.

Check online for the US Patent office. Get a patent first.
Then your invention is protected.

The US Copyright office has forms and info and such online,
so i'm sure the patent office does as well.

btw, nice avatar, pomme. metroid like a
muthafuckaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

There is a US government website set up for this sort of
thing. I can't remember the address though.

The idea is so simple, it HAS to work. It's losely based on
a toy from the seventies, but I've given this tired old rag
a patented pomme de terre twothousanditization.

I could literally build a prototype for this thing in my
bedroom. BUT YOU CANT, so dont go muckin around and stealin
my idea you hear! *shakes franticly and looks behind his
back*

oh my god its perfect. easy to use, can be mass produced
cheaply, could be used by childeren, college kids,
middleaged office dudes, grandparents...

not since the number 2 pencil have we seen a device with
such magnitude.

yes sirree bob, this is nothing short of a revolution.

I'm setting up a paypal account now so that i may begin
accepting preorders (an unpredicted spike in demand will
cause a limited supply for the first few months)

pirates come and try to steal your product in the hopes of
conquering the universe.

In sweden at least there are, if I remember correctly,
organisations/foundations that one can call and they'll sort
of guide you through the process.
All I know is that it will probably cost you a lot of money
and time to get it out, very few succeed.

Ah man there is this website called inventors guild or
something. I have an idea too.
No one will steal your idea trust me. I was watching a show
on inventing the other day and the guy made a good point.
People steal movies and music ect ect. People arnt going to
steal an idea because well it takes money to launch your
idea. No one does it for you. You have to make your proto
type and DIY : \

I was kind of bummed out but Im not done yet I think. If I
get any info Ill let you know !!!

over here in australia, there are places that handle these
things,.. you pitch the idea to them, thye handle it in
confidentiality, and decide whether or not to take it, maybe
there is something like that where you live

search the internet, that's my only advice

get your product as close to perfection in prototype as
possible, then release it and watch some big company either
bend your idea (to avoid patenting) and sell for half the
price, or attempt to buy your idea for peanuts
