reCycle (the program)

Is there a way to stop the sample sounding so shit when the
sensitivity is at 99? I can't use most of the samples I
re-tempo because they sound so awful !!

NB - I don't have an external sampler. Is there a virtual
sampler I can get which will work with this?

mmm ... i use it in conjunction with reason (slave mode) dr.
rex and it works for me .. no sound issues .. ?

mind u i never use all the bars of sensitivity 99 .. usually
around 80, and then take out all the ones i don't need ...

and dr rex only does pitch shift, not time stretch

I've fiddled with the sens. bar -- but that seems to either
a) fuck up the new tempo, or b) have the samples fade out :(

what exactly are you trying to do?

are you fiddling with the envelope etc?? sounds like you
have got enough resonance or something. i just tried a
random sample then, and it seems to be fine even at 99 ??

err. i mean decay

All I wanna do is change the tempo of a loop. Nothing more.

ah .. does the tempo match the orig tempo?

i haven't used recycle for very long.. i'd say either try
changing the tempo or changing number of bars (unless you
want to time stretch individual parts?)

well u can do that in protools free

I really need to start using this program. I have it but
don't use it. I'm a silly boy.

as far as i can see you can't change the tempo of a sample
without pitchshifting in recycle. it can do heaps of other
stuff .. but not that?

giginger u use reason eh? recycle + reason is great for
remixing!

I do use Reason. It is great for remixing as you say. I just
load in my samples and away I go. Importing MIDI works a
treat too. I've written stuff in MIDI and then just had my
way with it in Reason. Nice. Need more Refills though.

I wanna use Reason !!!!! But my piece-of-crap PC can't
handle it !! :(

BTW, reCycle doesn't alter the pitch (tho you can do so if
you wish)... it's just certain samples that it fucks up
badly when you change the tempo :(

just had a look in the manual .. u can use the "stretch"
function, but it doesn't actually "stretch it" per se ..
"Stretch is used to add an extra tail of audio to each
slice, to lengthen it. This
is derived from the natural decay of the sound. This extra
tail of sound then
fills out the gap between the slices when the tempo is
lowered."

if you're after just re-tempo-ing a loop, protools free does
a pretty good job.

Ok - I think I have that somewhere . . .

btw. if u can run protools free i'm pretty sure you can run
reason ?!

well, my computer has trouble even handling Fruityloops. I
haven't got ProToolsFree installed, so I've no idea if my
junk PC can handle it ! I guess I'll find out later when I
return to my flat !

what about stuff like cool edit etc. (haven't used them
meself) .. but they should do that sort of thing surely?

what is this hunk of junK? have u got 128MB Ram /+ ??

"as far as i can see you can't change the tempo of a sample

that one was fun... ;P Temposhift in recycle works great
for what it?s made for "Sampled grooves" (drumloops), but If
you got loop made of some bars of cello playing slow notes
and you want to make it slower without making the audio
sound chopped, the you?ll have to timestretch the audio in
another program....

I use Cool Edit - the tempo stretch makes it sound all
funny, plus I would have to use calculations myself.

I have 48Mb RAM.
