Anyone tempted to vote conservative by the 80mph motorway
limit and the removal of speed cameras from everywhere
except accident blackspots?

Gotta admit it's making me give it some serious thought...

WHOAH!!!!! Thats amazing!!!!!
I'll never vote those assholes in though....

Maybe i should just take to the streets with an axe and
remove the cameras myself!!
I'll be a national hero!

everyone drives at 80 on the motorways anyway and the police
don't give a shit unless you go over 90.

the camera thing is a good idea though.

I personally reckon it should all be 90, but you get busted
for doing under 60 (unless you're a lorry or there's an
accident/heavy traffic), but you get busted the second you
go over 90.

i think generally that people should get banned more often
and more easily for driving too fast, too slow or just plain
badly. if you are dangerous on the roads you are a danger
to others. BAN THEM ALL!!!!!

end of rant.

I think people who drive slowly on the motorways cause a lot
of accidents- people who do 60 in the outside lane and force
people to overtake on the inside are a hazard, as are people
doing 50 in any lane... People who don't understand how to
use roundabouts/indicate on them should get banned too.

The speed limit used to be 100 in England until the war.
Then it was dropped because of petrol rationing. I didn't
think cars went that fast then but there you go. So it's
hitlers fault that you have to drive slowly

As a law abiding citizen who NEVER breaks the speed limit
:P I don't think are enough speed cameras. Hehehhe

I would certainly not vote for conservative based on the
fact that they'd allow us to drive faster on the motorways.
What you'd find is, that they'd screw you over on something
else.....road tax, city tolls, parking rates. You cannot
win either way - its like everything. Things are given with
one hand, and taken with the other.

conservatives are liars...if you voted them in they would
forget everything they promised...pretty much like Labour
has this time. Besides when I break the speed limit it is
normally with half a dozen police cars behind me anyway, so
speed cameras don't arse me too much :D

I wouldn't vote Conservative even if they offered immunity
from prosectution for speeding for all those who voted. Or
even if they offered me a free car for voting.

Plus I don't think it's a good idea to remove speed cameras.
I think there should be more of them. I'm sick of selfish,
stupid wankers driving ridiculously fast and putting other
people's lives in danger. Anything that discourages them
has got to be a good thing. If you want to drive fast, go
and use a race track

I'm thinking of voting conservative if they scrap the
minimum wage, benefits, pensions, human rights, the welfare
system and the NHS . Until they vow to bomb Europe they
can't really expect to be taken seriously by the electorate.

"minimum wage, benefits, pensions, human rights, the welfare

system and the NHS"

I would too if they scrapped those but dropped income tax by
50%.

yes, the advocacy of slavery needs to be re-incorporated
into politics after decades of political correctness.

The tories need to get their act together and return this
country to the good old days when the rabble knew their
place and toiled without want before their master.

You considered joining them? :D

Seriously though, I think their policies on:
private healthcare "top up fees",
reduction of speed cameras and
university loans are very sensible.

And I'm all for abolition of the Human
Rights act in this country... we pretty much have the more
important acts of them in place already- as a lawyer I know
put it, "It's a fucking waste of time in civilised countries
like this, the only use of it really is for barratry."

"I'm all for the abolition of human rights in this country"

we need more lawyers standing up and saying things like
this. Maybe our lily-livered namby-pamby leaders will one
day take notice and the good old gallows can take pride of
place on village greens once again should anyone dare step
out of line.

the 70 mph limit on derestricted roads inc motorways was not
introduced until 1967.
the cause was apparantly an AC Cobra clocked at > 160 mph
on the M6.

we all have that driver to thank.

Canvassing again Ceri?

These cunts haven't got a clue. Their problem is that the
New Labour have stolen their right wing, qausi-facist
thunder and they can't come up with anything to get the
votes. So they come up with these half-arsed policies.

If I wanna drive at 80 I'll drive at 80. I don't need a
bunch of twats in suits to give me permission.

We still have (admittedly outr last)working gallows on
Portsmouth naval base.

With regard to the aspects of the human rights act I was
talking about:
In Bristol there is a particular problem with "aggressive
beggars", there are several (about 5 that I recognise)
beggars who threaten and intimate people, following them and
suggesting violence or reprisals if they don't give them
money. Quite rightly, this is seen as a public nuicance when
you have to walk past them to get to the shops or work
(recent experiments showed that on average crossing the
bristol town centre you would be stopped by 7 beggars on
average). As a result, beggars who people repeatedly
complain about (not all) are banned from the town
centre by a new bye law introduced. A 3 or so of the beggars
have taken a court action (naturally, at the tax payers
expense as they can't afford their own legal representation)

under the new human rights bill claiming it's a violation of
their human rights. It won't work, it's simply barratry and
2 fingers at the establishment. Naturally you and I are
paying for this...
We live in a democracy- the majority of people in Bristol
(even many comparatively liberal ones...) do not want them
in the town centre. So why should they be allowed to go
there?

Loogie: Yeah the AC cobra was a mental car, my ex's
neighbour still had one, best described as a 4 wheel
superbike- huge oversized engine with a tiny passenger
compartmant and 4 wheels on it basically.

1998 Human Rights Act

Right to Life (article 2)
Protection from torture and inhuman or degrading treatment
or punishment (article 3)
Protection from slavery and forced or compulsory labour
(article 4)
The right to liberty and security of person (article 5)
The right to a fair trial (article 6)
Protection from retrospective criminal offences (article 7)

The protection of private and family life (article 8)
Freedom of thought, conscience and religion (article 9)
Freedom of expression (article 10)
Freedom of association and assembly (article 11)
The right to marry and found a family (article 12)
Freedom from discrimination (article 13)
The right to property (article 1 of the first protocol)
The right to education (article 2 of the first protocol)
The right to free and fair elections (article 3 of the first
protocol)
The abolition of the death penalty in peacetime

You'd scrap these because of a hand full of beggars?
The words nut and sledgehammer spring to mind.

id NEVER vote tory even if they paid me.

but yeah the 70mph limit is out of date you gotta drive to
the conditions. unfortunately most drivers don't undestand
the premise of this and therefore increasing the speed limit
would probably encourage more lunatics rather than help. we
nearly hit a car on sunday on the motorway it was doing 45
mph, stupid fuckwit.

Yeah, I agree with that. There's no ideology to the Tories
these days, it's just jumping on policies they think will be
popular with target sets of voters.

In a way, I guess it's good that they're actually offering
people what they want, to a degree, but their motivation is
simply to get elected, not to actually effect any meaningful
change.

they may be offering the mojority of people what they want,
but as sure as eggs are eggs they will come up with 1001
excuses why it can't be done (just remember labour used
every excuse under the sun why they could not meet their
manifesto pledges)
