okay, who in here is like me and hasn't ever had a
girlfriend and can never seem to get the courage to ask
people out? who is consistently fixating on a girl (or guy
:*/) and then stalking them and dreaming of them and writing
songs about them but never making a move? am I alone?!?!?

okay so I had a girlfriend once when I was 15, but c'mon..
it's been long enough.

oh yeah, and if you clikced on this thread thinking it was
about my bloody valentine, you can talk about that too. :)

almost 20 years young?

time to suck it up, know you're a good guy, and go after
'em.

what kind of things do you do? what do you like? tell us
about yourself.

sharing is caring!

copy it myself.

here's to you.

i'm sure you'll grow out of it. imagine yourself forty
years old stuck in the same trap, and scare yourself
straight. if you have nothing, you have nothing to lose.
ask! but first, acqaint yourself with "infatuation." it is
the precursor to "obsession," a far worse trap than your
"lonely admirer syndrome." you have never been imprisoned,
except when you built the cell.

in conclusion, my bloody valentine's "glider," "tremolo" and
"loveless" are essential listening.

jeezus, what a grumpy lot you all are at this hour.

seriously uviol, what blows your skirt up? what tickles
your pickle.

---------
for example, I like sailing, so I've dated girls with common
interests. It's just a nice common bond to have.

you like music obviously, but what else? Be confident about
those things you know alot about and enjoy, and do that
stuff all the time. Ladies will be around, and be friendly
and caring.

compassion goes a long way, I mean, what good is your life
if you aren't constantly helping other people?

when you look at it that way, people see that dedication and
honesty in your eyes and your actions, and girls will
respect that.

you won't get the hoes mate, and you won't get laid all the
time. but a self respecting young lady will come and steal
your heart, and you'll never want her to give it back.

head up, get your heart in the game kid!

I feel so bad! i went to watch craig kilborn last night and
never came back to see all these heartfelt replies! :)

Thanks for your interest and advice, Blatant. I'm glad to
see you're back on top of your game.. I remember the turmoil
you went through in the 'how to get a girl that's your
friend...' thread.
I think your advice is quite sound. I've come to the
conclusion recently that confidence and honesty is the best
way to go about it, in theory. Every time in the past I've
been confronted with one of my crushes I get flustered and
act all goofy because I built them up too much. I think
plaidzebra's threoy of the self-built cell is what's going
on. So, I've been trying to keep it low-key.

'seriously uviol, what blows your skirt up? what tickles
your pickle.'

Hmm.. I don't think you wanna go here. Unfortunately I have
a thing for underage chicks which will get me in trouble if
I pursue it ;*) Seriously though, I'm not out to get laid,
I just would like to say I've been in a relationship and not
feel like it's a partial lie. Finding a common thread is a
probably the best idea.. sometimes I've been going after
girls who are in completely different worlds than me. So,
if I find someone who likes game shows and electronic music
I should be set!

Thanks for the advice everyone! God to have you in the club,
IronLung, btw.

And Loveless is great, but Isn't Anything is equally as
good methinks :). Haven't heard the EPs yet.

See looking for a relationship is the wrong way to go about
things...because girls pick up on that straight away. You
need to go out for a laugh and a mess about, then if things
develop from that let it happen naturally, don't be peeping
bitches like you plan to marry them or something.

<-- 17, has had one girlfriend, it lasted only 3 weeks.

I'm fucking so unclutch when it comes to talking to chicks,
I just can't do it. I mean I can have meaningless "gettin

anything with substance i'm lost.

it sucks.

unfortunately, saying "yo bitch! i got 9 inches of pure
hardcore pleasure for your creamy pie" won't impress anyone,
so failing PLAN A, i advise you to move on to PLAN B:

that is, if you see the person you fancy enough, and perhaps
even converse with them from time to time, why not just flat
out ask them to join you for coffee or lunch? something
casual, just to see how it goes, and whether or not the two
of you actually click.

that said, i have absolutely rotten luck with the opposite
of sex for reasons far beyond my comprehension

(likely something to do with the fact that regardless of the
rise of feminism and a move towards greater gender equality,
the vast majority of women still focus on a man's ability to
provide them with safety & security - so it doesn't matter
if you're caring, compassionate and the whole lot, so long
as you're relatively well-off)

i have been savagely dumped by a girl i've dated for 2
years, and 3 years on, here i am - just me and my porno!
hehe!

but yeah, i keep on asking out all these girls and even if
it all goes well and they even say yes to going out for
coffee, sooner or later i'm told to piss off without any
explanation and the date is usually called off. what gives?

believe me mimi, i floss on a regular basis!

and by the way BlatantEcho is full of doodoo!

i'm an example of a prime-cut upstanding citizen - i
contribute plenty of my time to volunteering for causes i
actually care about, i make music, create art, love
literature, have a broad scope of interests in general,
etc., etc.,

yet for all of that, because i am not a complete cunt who
treats girls like utter shite and prefers watching football
and drinking bud to going to art galleries, i'm apparently
worthless.

eh! women - can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. =(

if there's one thing that turns women off, it's a "feeling
sorry for yourself" attitude. first, learn to love and
respect yourself. women can sense your fear!

second, be patient. very patient.

perhaps you need to lower your standards. statistics
indicate that even if you do find a girl significantly more
attractive than you who is willing to date you, she will
almost certainly leave you for a more handsome man with a
stylish haircut. and if there is one thing that we have
learned, it is that statistics do not lie.

another strategy is to become drunk. women will see you are
vulnerable, and try to take advantage of you. if it doesn't
work out, you can bond by letting her take care of you while
you make sick in a toilet.

you might try also to become more handsome. how about a
stylish haircut?

several words of advice: get rid of all the porn. all of
it. no porn for you! why? motivation. you're wasting
all of your pheromonal essence in front of that computer,
my friend. the money you spend on tissue is better spent on
flowers to perk up your mood. and if you saw how ridiculous
you look glaring at that monitor...

i met my wife at work, then she dumped her boyfriend for me.
have you considered getting a job? most women consider
employment a big "thumbs up."

most importantly, keep your sense of humor. don't dwell on
what you don't have, concentrate on what you take pleasure
in NOW. everyone gets stuck with no girlfriend and no
prospects sometime. or so they'd have you believe, to make
you feel better. ever lived in a small, rural town? pure
insanity.

I wouldnt say that. I would rather say that you drop the
"sensitive artist" crap, and find you'r outgoing party side,
when you're dealing with women... It helped me a great deal.
Remember to smile a lot, think about smiling more often than
do, when dealing with chicks. Really good tip there.
