you know, a million dollars isn't even that much these days.
i think the Friend's cast makes that in an episode, and
they don't have to do anything degrading. Plus there are a
ton of episodes per season.

No toes... the only part of my body I'm willing to sacrifice
are my tonsils (I've still got them).

I've thought about this topic in the last few minutes and I
take everything I said back, there's a ton of stuff I
wouldn't do for a million... maybe 10 though.

$$ has no influence on me, i can honestly say. once you
realize what the REAL important things in life are, then
you've made a significant step in the direction that will in
the end = HAPPINESS.

contrary to current beliefs.....money DOES NOT equal
happiness!

no amount of money can buy you that, and thats worth all the
money in the world!

offline Ceri JC from Jefferson City (United States) on 2003-06-22 14:53 [#00752076]

I agree- there are certain things I would never do for
money, and money is not the be-all and end-all of happiness.
I would however, say money can certainly improve your
quality of life by alleviating stress. If you don't have
money worries you're not so prone to have long term stress.
Some of the most laid back people I know are very affluent.
No matter how much they fuck up they'll never go hungry or
be homeless and that makes them less tense.

It also makes them prone to being quite childish, but that's
another matter entirely ;)

you're on the right track.
but I've guess you've realized that our societies (not the
world) is built upon money.
I hate that, and hope something will be done about it
eventually.

the thing about money is that somebody wins, somebody
loses.
that's not life. Just give somebody a hugh and you will
understand what I mean.

offline LeCoeur from the outer edge of the universe (United States) on 2003-06-22 15:03 [#00752085]

retiring is NOT all it's cracked up to be!!

you need something to do, it's strange but i would never
stop working, i like having something to do......not being
busy is totally DULL. think about it everyone in the world
WORKS.....what are you gonna do all on your own ?!?!

i was off work by choice for a few months.....i NEARLY went
crazy, i couldn't wait to get a job, i woulda taken
anything. it was OK for 2 weeks, then all i could do is wait
till people got off WORK to go do stuff......sooooo

i don't think about money at all, most times....dunno what
that means, prolly that it doesn't mean too much to me

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2003-06-22 15:10 [#00752100]

its kind of sad to be working...especially because life is
passing so fast, and there are many things i'd like to do,
but i dont have the time for that...and when i get older
i'll probably have the time, but wont feel doing the things
i enjoy now

so if someone offered me a million i'd sure as hell take it
and it is das but true that money has become very important
this days - i wish it was never invented :)

yeah we'd better off not inventing money.
Still (mostly non-poor people) have to realize so many
people are poor and can't even pay for food. If food was
free (as it is for other animals) they would not suffer.
Lots of people also work for no cash in foreign countries
(to me) so "we" can buy cheaper stuff - it just aint worth
it.

Yeah, when I work I often think, damn I'd like to stay home
today... but when I'm at home I often get bored and wish I
had something to do. Making music is the only real way to
occupy myself when I'm like that.

i don't LIVE to WORK.....i WORK to LIVE, and i do everything
i want to do, you just have to make it a priority and it can
happen.

PLAN PLAN PLAN

if you had all the money in the world, i doubt you'd have
the same wants.....just a guess but i think i'm right!

i dont really need much money - i spend it anyway
its just that it is so much easier if you dont have to think
about work, and you have all the time you need
i would never be able to just sit at home or something (i'd
rather work in that case) but i cant do many things because
of my work - and im probably in no position to complain
about my work, cos i reckon i should be pretty happy about
it, but still life its just too short to spend it on work...

yeah well...
you should be lucky.
but also, if we were animals (like we really are) we would
not be FORCED to work.
we could spend our days doing whatever we wanted. I think
that would make people happy, doing what makes them happy.
eh, it's just logic that people don't think about.
