A sound and a written or visual representation of that
sound. Simply put, an abstraction. See if you can draw a
picture of "God". I can't.

if God is non-existant, as most of you believe, then why
bother with him? what sense is there in trying to put down
something you don't believe in anyway? it's a strange
obsession i've noticed on here.

Those of us who aren't superstitious are annoyed and
dismayed that you benighted folks will mutilate your
children's genitals, start wars and legislate irational
social policy all on the basis of what you believe the
invisible pink unicorn in the sky is telling you.

If all you did was keep to yourself and go in the basement
and chant and drive nails through your dicks or whatever it
is you feel the need to do, we wouldn't have a problem with
it at all.

Maybe you "non-superstitious" fools should enact
anti-Christian policies... let's start killing ministers and
burning churches... isn't that the next step in repressing
the "irrational" (that's TWO r's) Christians? If you can't
shut 'em up, kill 'em.

I especially want to kill Christians who ring my doorbell
and try to sell me magazines. When was the last time an
atheist showed up at your door and pushed a tract in your
face?

I, Fleetmouse, will become world dictator and enact laws
allowing sane people to shoot, burn, hang and otherwise
annihilate the bothersome.

Fleetmouse those people wouldn't spend their Saturday's
doing that if they didn't care about you. I imagine you'll
get your chance to act out your fantasies soon enough
though.

You also might want to consider the idea that people do
horrible things in the name of religion but just because
they are doing that doesn't mean that is what God wants. We
believe that Satan disguises himself as an angel of light
and deceives people to follow perversions.

Another thing to think about:

How many atheist organizations like the salvation army are
out there? or how many atheists hold food drives or are
willing to donate money to the poor and needy. I'm not
saying there aren't atheists out there who things like that
but I imagine the ratios are a little off balanced.

I am also not sure what superstition has to do with it
either. I don't think it would be hard for anyone to accept
the idea of a transcendent being if that being was willing
to let them do whatever they wanted. You say that you are
sick of christians handing out tracts and having a public
voice in general, well we are sick of atheists trying to
secularize America and the western world in general.
America's forefathers had a vision of a christian nation
that tolerated other beliefs, not a completely secular one
where someone can really only freely worship in a closet
somewhere. I am afraid to have children because of what the
public schools have become like. Our children are told
about all kinds of alternate sexual lifestyles, and that it
is ok to sleep with whomever whenever as long as they use
protection. The book 'Inherit the Wind' is part of required
curriculum, a book that makes a mockery out of the Scopes
trial and makes the prosecuting attorney look like some
religiously backwards buffon who believes that sex is evil.
There is no religious freedom anymore. Get your torches and
pitchforks and lets get it done with.
