hehe, I only started using Fruity Loops yesterday but I'm
so proud of this loop I made about an hour ago :P

This is better than videogames! :o

That's the spirit. Mind you since I started making music I
stopped playing videogames completely.

They seem so fucking linear now.

the hard part is turning that loop into a song without just
repeating it voer and over.

linear is a good word...although most people think of you as
a major nerd if you say it in public. :P

Try some games made by a company called 'Treasure', they are
very much idm people type games. ;) I recommend Ikaruga and
Silhouette Mirage inparticular. Very stylish games.

My time spent videogaming is about 20% of what it used to
be... and that's mainly because I play CS in work at
lunchtimes because we can't install music software.

I tend to enjoy games with a lot of freedom, vice city for
example, although I still play the odd linear game like
Enter the Matrix.

Not much room for variation or straying from the set path.

In gaming terms,

If you imagine Mario brothers on the nes, that's linear,
apart from a few secret levels... something like GTA 3 where
you can choose the order to do missions in, has lots of
hidden "sub missions" which are optional, as well as
allowing you to do pretty much what you want, that'd be
non-linear.

I've fiddled with music making... and have made a few songs
which I kind of like... but I get so frustrated with it that
I quit for weeks and months in between songs... if I come up
with something I like, and the ideas are flowing, it's
great... but that's rare... so yeah, I don't do it much...
