head to n beach for italian.. check out a little joint called Caffee Macaroni. It's a silly name but its totally authentic.
For seafood.. head down to the wharf obviously. The Francican is supposed to be ok, I've never been there though.
Maybe some loacals could give you more info, but these are pommes recommendations.

thanks Iron.....it was HOT as H#@* =0) there yesterday......what a great day!!
mmm i will write that Burrito place down fo sho
and pomme......North Beach is Italian alley =0) ......and i'll def write that one down! the places by the Wharf are outrageously priced i've eaten at the Franciscan, great views and $$$ - i'm kinda looking for places that have the GOOD food w/o the tourist prices!
the crab yesterday was most fantastic.....they had CRAB pizza .... i wanted to try it, but i opted for just straight up DUNGENESS CRAB!!

Too bad you're not a bit further south ... all my old restaurant haunts are around Palo Alto and Mountain View.
Although Frankie, Johnny and Luigi Too might be worth a trip the whole way down!

hmm.. anything i suggest is going to be really expensive since i have such good taste.
you could head down to haight ashbury and see if you can snag a snickers bar out of a homeless mans napsack.

bahhhhhh......ya BRAT.....snickers are like a MEAL in one bar.....mmmmmm
i like expensive TOO, but i'll save that for the WINE country....i know there are good places that aren't tourist traps.....like the place i ate at yesterday.....32 bucks for crab is outrageous.......ehehhe
whaley.....if i stay for more than a day i'll have a car and i'll drive to palo alto.....is that the name of the restaurant? or is it called 3 Brothers? cos i've heard of that place.

theres a place called calzones in n beach. dont eat there.. thats as tourist trappy as it gets.
best thing to if youre in that area would be to head over to city lights bookstore and ask the guy or lady working where a good non touristy place to grab a bite would be.
also, be adventurous.. go to chinatown and order something strange.
have fun, sf is a killer city.. check out some techno while you are there if you have time. pick up a weekly and see whats happenin' theres a club called the top down in the mission that has a dnb weekl with some excellent djs.. if thts your thing~

3 Brothers is a different place. That's the name all right. It's actually in Mountain View, the next town south of Palo Alto on El Camino Real.
It's a great place, but I'd skip it if you're going on a weekend. It will take quite a while to get there and the queues can be really long.

ehhehe......good idea about the book store, it's so hard to find a consistantly good place. a couple places i had on my list WERE CLOSED......so go figure!
i do like clubbing, this was just a quick day trip with some family members, when i go there for more than a day i'll def check out that place and pick up a weekly when i'm there.
i love the haight ashbury area, they have a kicking record store, very famous.......i can't think of the name right now.....but lemmie tell ya.......thats where i bought my FIRST APHEX SAW 2.....i had absolutely NO idea what it would lead to, and i absolutely had no idea what i was buying.....hahahahha
that was a GREAT recommendation

thanks for the great rec's, my dentist recommended Scoma's but i didn't see it and the 2 people i asked didn't know where it was =/
i just want decent food at not outrageous prices 10-20 dollars for lunch is fine, but over 30 is kinda steep, and the quality just wasn't there at the place we went to!
i like palo alto, what places can you recommend there?
i d/l'd one of your songs.....Kadath, after i listen a few times i'll give you my take!

lol, the Stinking Rose, that place is great
San Francisco has TONS of great places to eat, just oodles.
I would even recomend eating at the place that looks the most run down, dirty and is a hole in the wall. Those places are run general by families and man o man, it is pure authentic home cooking.
Enjoy the Bay Area!

well dear, it has been a few years since I've eaten in the city.
Really, when you are walking around, duck into the most obscure place you see. Chances are 9 out of 10 the food will blow you away.
There are some good Greek Food establishments as well, hard to find those anymore.
Little Italy is littered with good food. omg, I want to go home now and eat eat eat.
Fly me down? You guys do PDX-OAK for cheap, can I non-rev with you????!! :D
