I ve done an aphex compilation and also an Ae compilation
today.

I did them for a friend that is not into idm so its the
softer material i could find:

aphex:
abb3 track 1
heliosphan
actium
alberto balsam
next heap with
polinomial-c
if it really is me
avril 14th (piano. drukqs cd1 track 9)
kesson dalef (piano. drukqs cd1 track 15)
nanou2 (piano. drukqs cd2 track 15)
on
d-scape
flim
iz us
4
goon gumpas

its not a very original one but its nice for a beginner

autechre:

kalpol intro
bike
nine
garbagemx36
vletrmx21
c/pach
cichli
rae
arch carrier
dropp
pir

I didnt go into confield stuff as it is his first time and
has never listened to electronica or idm

what do you think?
what other comilations have you made?

Making stuff for people who dont like "idm" is tough
The only advice I can give you is dont start off with "dance
like your selling nails"....thats just bad judgement

"dance like your selling nails"
Is that an idm song or a 80's hit ?

Those two seem like a nice introduction to Aphex and Ae.
It's in a way a pity you didn't get to confield maybe, but
on the other hand it might 'scare people off' because it is
extreme stuff for one who's never heard any "idm".

Never made any myself, I usually have them listen to an
album, considering their background. Like, one who is into
deep house or techno can get more into certain aphex than
directly into some other I think.

introduce people the same way you were introduced to IDM is
my best guess

Morgoth thats a very good way to introduce people, give them
something they can relate to

got it, thanx.
And yeah, I was introduced to some music that I could relate
myself, and then it just went downhill :).
