yay or nay?
it think it's highly underrated. it was such a perfect closure to the alien saga. it's a very tragic movie and i think that's the reason many people don't like it

aliens movies are not waste of time by any means. They're horror/sci-fi classics man! except for Alien Resurrection, which blew (nice visuals though)

yes it was the perfect closure. Shame they had to come up with the abomination that was Alien resurrection with which they totally raped the completed trilogy.

thought it was cheesy but then again i thought aliens was overproduced predictable action-genre crap.. so the legacy was already ruined by the 2nd movie.

my 2 cents:
they should've stopped after the first 2. it just went downhill... same movie, basically, just got worse.

yes, the first 2 were the best (both highly original and andrenaline-pumping. I'm glad the second one wasn't just a rehash of the first one but made it more interesting by creating a hive and then pitting armed humans against them) but the third, though predictable and not scary, wrapped up the story with a fitting and grim ending. I loved it that the few people who survived the onslaught from the aliens all died in the end.

the third part was the only saw it at the cinema, btw that ocassion I was only with other very few people, 3 or 4 persons, I liked a lot, next times I saw it it was boring.
There is no discussion about the first part being the best.

Nah, the first was a stylish classic psychological sci-fi horror...the second was a predictable cameron hollywood shoot em up...the third was a poorly shot (by Finchers own admission), pointless franchise cash in with a weak plot.

the second one is brilliant and inspiring in it's own way and one of the more underrated films, most likely because it's a cameron flick. His stuff always gets underrated and hated.

to rate Aliens as a poor action-shoot-em-up really doesn't do it justice, there are so many classic and nerve-wrecking scenes in it and ripley's character is really brought to life in this one.

i didn't say it was poor, just overproduced and predictable.. i enjoyed quite a lot of it, it's a very "fun" film! but i prefer the subtle terror of alien... the direction, acting, and musical score of that film are all mindblowing..

The acting and directing in Aliens is really solid too. The music isn't all that great though. But agreed, there will never be anything like the first Alien ever again. I love those slow paced movies of the 70's. They just ooze class and style.

Interesting film, and I find bald Sigourney rather... secksy. The first one is my fave, then the second, then the third, then the fourth...
Hmmm...
The first one is magical, I drown in the gooey streamy atmosphere. The second, you can see signs of where the series was eventually headed, urgh... the Halloween effect.

Yeah totally agree. I've completed Aliens vs Predator as the Alien. However didn't get too far as the marine 'cause my graphics card couldn't cope with the graphics for some reason. Bet yeah playing as the marine is shit scary, not for the timid.
