You're fucking kidding me? That's ridiculous. This country
is fucked. The more tax you pay the more you have to pay for
services that your tax has already paid for. I fucking hate
it. I'm going into exile.

I think that's probably because people abuse the service...
when they need to pay they'll think twice before going there
so the services become less "stressed". Is that the
principle behind this rule?

Well that'd be a small minority and causing the majority
trouble is not going to help. I haven't been to Casualty in
years and the last time I did was when my Gran fell over and
broke her arm causing her to have an Angine attack. Before
that was when I nearly broke my ankle. I've paid so much
fucking tax in the past couple of years and I don't receive
a fucking thing from it. I don't go to the doctors, I don't
go to hospital (apart from the one I work in)I don't claim
any benefits.

Which is why if anything medical is wrong with me I'm
crossing that fucking channel in a eye-blink. France's
health system make the UK look like the middle ages.

I mean, for crying out loud, the nhs were sending patients
overseas to be dealt with not so long ago. When are people
in this country going to wake up, see what shit public
services they have (transport: we don't even have a fast
train network yet as opposed to most of the rest of europe.
8-10 hours to glasgow from london is NOT acceptable. health.
education...) and make a REAL fuss?

offline Laserbeak from Netherlands, The on 2003-04-25 05:57 [#00668176]

I think the most important problem in the public services(at
least in my country) is people's mentality. For a social
system you need social people and not lazy bureaucrats and
abuse of social service.

This country is going down the fucking drain and needs to
spend money to sort it out but it's too busy spending money
elsewhere where it doesn't need to. Housing people who don't
deserve it in 5 Bedroomed houses and giving them more luxury
than is sensible. I can't belive the way this country is
going. I don't pay tax to see it squandered in the way it
is. I'm fucking ashamed to ay i'm english really. Fuck this
country. It's fucked up.

I can't stand greedy people... no matter what make them
greedy.
Society has never worked, and will never work - unless we
change it radically.
especially when there's "money" involved.

Many parts of the A&E-industry has been greedy for the past
50 years or so. No medical resarch is done unless you can
profit from it.
I don't even take drugs anymore, when I'm sick. wait... I
don't even get sick anymore =)

Everywhere I've been transport is always better than the UK.
France's transport is great. Late trains are very rare and
you can get from Paris to Marseille in under 4 hours easy.
Barcellona's metro seems efficient and very clean. German
trains seemed good from what I remember but in whenever I
get on a train in the UK I know something is going to go
wrong or too slowly and it always does. :(

We're in a country which supposedly includes the financial
capital of Europe. London is also in the
London-Paris-NewYork triad which form the world's cultural
centres. So what the fuck is going on? Where does all the
dough go? Why do the people keep voting for Torries and
NewLabour (not like there's much of a difference)? The
standard english atitude is to point at some random country
(any country, although usually France,USA and germany) and
make fun of them and critisise as much as possible. Fine you
stupid ignorant fuckers, you do that, it's not like they
give a damn about us anyway and their standard of living is
miles higher than ours. I'm not talking about TVs and sports
cars either. I'm talking about things that *really* matter
like quality of food and public services like health,
transport and education.

Whenever I switch on the TV over here I'm confronted with
the british institutionalised racism. I can't go for more
than half an hour without some form of media making some
form of fucking petty remark about another country. I lived
in France for over 9 years in total and I could count the
number of instances of such petty racism with the fingers on
one hand. WAKE UP. Look at the tip we live in before
you go pointing fingers.

Grrr.

As for the previous point about Australia, don't bother. It
will all be screwed up by the time you get here.

The neo-liberals are running this country at the moment, and
it's all going to be corporatised by the time that they're
through.

As one example, there's a law that allows the NHS to charge
you for your treatment if you're in a road accident and
subsequently receive compensation.
