In the good old days, musicians and copmosers used to hang
out at coffee shops to discuss advancements in music, their
latest ideas and generally what they've been up to.

So, this is our virtual coffee-shop. Let me get the
conversation started.

I'm busy restudying harmony and counterpoint, two very
worthwhile tasks, I'm sure you'll agree. I've also been
reading up on 20th Century "Classical" music, and
downloading mp3s to listen. Also, i've been composing pieces
using the 12-tone serial method - some quite pleasing
effects can be garnered. Well, my coffee's cold now, ciao!

If you're getting another coffee...get me one of those nice
blueberry muffins...I'll pay you later!

:P

I've been fiddling with obscure settings in music software,
getting material I've previously recorded and distorting it
madly.

Coffeeshop Dutch Style. ;)
I'm on a few days break with music, I need the distance
after the ae thing. So my main worry is to find where
this rockin' piece is coming from.

Get some midifiles from the net, run them through some
softsynths, play with pitch, tempo,... and maybe you come up
with something you like. Does the trick for me when I'm
without inspiration.

Here's a hot chocolate to go with that Chris :)

I tend to just record little loops of melody or percussion
when I lack the concentration/inclination to do a whole
piece.

I've been working on a lot of remixes and collaborations as
well as my own material. I've been playing about with more
complex softsynth settings and also exploring new programs.

Gotta go, dinner followed by Ae remix beckons!

I'll grab a Latte, thanks rocken :)

haha, I'm working on a glitch track I've done. Even though
I've only heard Autechre's Peel Sessions 2, I think the low
humming and glitchy rhythm is very like them.

I can't wait to bring it in to the coffee shop tomorrow to
play on the cafe stereo :D

A coffee for me too please, black and strong.
How do you guys feel now the ae remix deadline is over? To
finally let it go.
I'm not quite happy with how mine sounds production wise,
but the thing I had in mind musically worked fine.
Be carefull when you talk about it, you know why. ;)
