Just kinda wondering, in places like the Netherlands, can
you walk into a convenience store and pick up a nickelbag?
Do they manufacture actual marijuana cigarettes, like
tobacco cigs in the USA?
I'm not a user, but i'm curious as to how mainstream usage
is over there. Oh, and what are legal ages?

there are authorized dealers as far as I know, and the legal
age is 18 to the best of my knowledge.

Weed is not legalized in the netherlands, it is merely
decriminalized. A full legalizations means that you do not
need a permit so sell whatever it is you're selling, but in
the Netherlands a permit is required. (mind you, I'm not
100% sure though)

It's the same with alcohol basically - it's not legalized,
because you need a permit to sell it at your store. There's
a big difference between legalization and
decriminalization.

I bet there are lots of .nl-members here, that can both
answer you, and correct the contents of my post :)

Since one month, it's legal here in Belgium too. (YAY!)
You need to be 18 and it's not allowed in company of minors
and you can't do it in public places.

but... dealing is not allowed.
You're supposed to grow it yourself.
We are allowed to grow 4 (I think) plants per person.

Supreme: if it's not allowed to deal it, then it is not
legalized, it is decriminalized - there's a big diffenrence.

canada is by far the only country that is working towards a
full legalization in every area of the subject

When it wasn't legal here yet, we went too the netherlands
every once in a while to buy weed in a 'coffeeshop' ;) .
That's just an old name , I think.
They had this kind of menus with all the possible drugs they
sold.
I think you don't do that kinda stuff when you're not
allowed to sell it.

It is legal in the netherlands.
For years already!

of course they don't sell it if they're not allowed - that's
the point. But if it was fully legalized then everyone could
sell the stuff. As far as I know, you need a government
authorization to do it - that still makes drugdealing
illegal if you do not have a permit, but it's allowed within
the boundaries of this permit

...that's what I heard some minister say on tv.
She said "legalise"
(...)

yeah, I know, the Belgian politicians are stuuupid.

Whatever it's caled, they can't arrest you anymore for
lighting a joint in your living room, or owning some weed.

How big?

ok, like I said, I'm not 100% on this. This goes for the
rest of my posts on this thread (I prolly shouldn't be
posting at all then, hehe)

But, if the police in holland catch you with 100 pounds of
marihuana you will be punished by law, because it is not
legalized. If it was legalized however, this activity would
be, well, legal :)

It's legal for the user to use it, but it's still illegal
for the drug-lords to deal the stuff.

to decriminalize means to stop punishing the users, and
focus on the biguns instead. It's purely politics

decriminalization means you're allowed to use it, but it's
still illegal to sell it - go figure, but that's roughly
what it means

Is that law through yet? As it's been quite a thing here in
belgium, and with those upcoming elections there might be
more problems on the way.

And about the Netherlands: I think it's legal over there.
Same as with alcohol: you can sell it with some sort of
permit given by the state.

yeah they're starting to talk about it here:):)

ive heard it explained like this: "decriminalized" would
make it like a traffic violation... you wouldn't go to jail
and get a criminal record for it, but its not fully legal
like candy bars

Okay...
I looked it up .
Unfortunately, the text is in Dutch, French and German only,
since this is a website of the Belgian government.
The text is a lil' too complicated for me to translate.
(sorry)
http://staatsblad.be/index_nl.htm

click 'justice from A to Z' , and then go to 'drugs'. Then
read the faq.

It comes down to it that they can't proscecute (?) you for
growing cannabis.
(for me , that means it is completely legal)

And that they can't proscecute(?) you for smoking canabis in
a private space , if you're not in company of minors.

Selling things without paying taxes is illegal anyway.

all drugs should be legalized.
each one must be mature enough to know what they must do
with their lifes.
being illegal, only cause more mafia and problems. once its
legalized in the whole world (no sense in being illegal
someplaces and not in others) mafias shall dissapear, and
with that a lot of gangs trouble.

Each and everyone should be mature enough, but are they?

Same with alcohol, most people can drink on a normal basis,
but there are alcohol addicts as well.

It's not that I'm against legalisation, I'm definately pro
as I don't see any harm in smoking weed or so, but before
one can legalise all drugs, I think people should be made
aware of what they're about to do when using them.

"can

congratulations on doing your best to keep prejudices alive
and kicking. You probably wonder how i - a guy who lives in
a windmill, walks on wooden shoes, has a few thousand tulips
in his garden, along with a few acres of marijuana plants -,
can even speak english.

how typically american can one get? you guys never cease to
amaze (and amuse) me. Take a look at nlogax. He's not from
here (but then, europe is just one big country to you guys
anyway) but he knows a shitload of things because he is
smart and has interest in other countries. I admire that and
most americans should try to be more like him.

No offense if you're just trying to get some info, but next
time try to think about how you're going to put it into
words.

OK, see, I was kidding around. Prejudices, what are you
talking about? I'm Dutch myself and I still have family
living there, and I have met them myself.

I was simply wondering about what "legal" means, in terms of
cannabis. Jesus Christ, lighten the fuck up.
