I was a huge fanatic of the adventure games way back when.
I even ordered the Day of the Tentacle hat from that
official Lucas Arts merchandise catalogue that came with all
of their games. I also swiped the Sam & Max graphic novel
from a Barnes and Noble when I was 11 and was found out and
disowned by my parents on the van-ride back home.

Which LA title garners the most praise here at XLT?

1. Sam & Max
2. Full Throttle
3. Day of the Tentacle
4. The Dig
5. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
6. Escape from Monkey Island
7. Grim Fandango

I'm going to have to go with number 4. The soundtrack and
atmosphere are what did it for me. The maturity was a breath
of fresh air too.

other games.

Monkey Island is the only one I've never played. I remember
seeing the cover story on PC Gamer and thinking it looked
fantastic.. Not sure why I was never able to pick it up.

I think both the new Full Thottle game and Tim Schafer's
Psychonauts are coming to the Xbox.
-Don't quote me though.

I downloaded the demo for grim fandango, I didn't realy like
it. I prefer the ones where you can Sit back in the chair
with the mouse =oD

1. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
2. Day of the Tentical
3. Sam and Max

I reallly love the indiana jones game, it was so great, i
must have passedit close to 15 times bak in the days of
grade 5-6 Day of teh tentical was also great. Spent many
hours on it. Sam and Max was a kick ass game but my comp
never ran it well, so it screwed up and i was never able to
get more then 30 minuites of gameplay in before it died on
me :( As for the others, i havent played them :( but im
sure they wer great. I agree, why DONT they make these
games anymore, if you ask me, they are just as entertaining
as any RPG/FPS made now adays...

Doing so would be deemed as a bad investment.
Unfortunately, the Playstation generation just doesn't have
the attention span suitable to play these sorts of games..
If it ain't 3D it's not moving off the shelf.

All I remember about Indiana Jones is talking to an
archeologist in a cave and that it was really awesome.

Have you heard about Psychonauts? It's a new game being
developed for the Xbox by Double Fine Productions, Tim
Schafer's(Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, etc.) new
development group. Take a look :

"I hope there was no one on that bus"
"No one we knew at least"

I think I broke a rib laughing at that when I was 11 and it

sam and max do it!

i remember the mini-games at the fair.
its a shame what lame humor the other adventures nowadays
use...

i had grim fandango and the curse of monkey idland but this
new generation doesnt come close to old ones...

2d is so much better, it keeps the feeling real, but digital
speech is quite nice,
so sma and max would be kinda cool in a new adventure.

i hope they keep up with old brutality ;b
