I bought this CD 'unrest' yesterday,
although it's kinda soft and a bit cheesy i like it.

The first track 'Ghost Train' he did with Morgan Geist is
really great imo.

Any opinions..?

He's a bit like Herbert Smirtil mixed with Rupert Di Livio.
His newer stuff is more like early Kristoph Kalsbergardia
but it's worth investigating as well.

what kind of music is it? I've been stumbling upon the name
Erland Øye for the last couple of weeks (in music-related
magazines and such)... but i've never actually heard
anything by him.

He is one half of the Kings of Convenience, an amazing duo i
think!

I've downloaded 'unrest' and listened a little bit, its
pretty cheesey but that's his character i guess. i need to
listen to it more, to see whether i should buy it or not.

yeah as mylittlesister sais he's half of 'kings of
convenience' (dunno if you're familiar with them?), i got
their album 'quiet is the new loud' too, it's even more soft
but still i like it

this is a bit different though, it's him singing of (soft)
electronic music (whereas 'kings of convenience' is just
mostly guitar music (no electronics))
the album 'unrest' has 10 tracks which he made in 10
different cities with 10 different electronic artists (he
travelled around from july 2001 till june 2002 and
collaborated with these different local music makers
(prefuse73, morgan geist etc.))
maybe this provides some info

check out 'ghost train' it's my fav of that album :)

hm... hm... i never really liked what i heard from Kings of
Convenience. But my brother has their cd, maybe i should
borrow it from him or something.

Soft electronic music might be alot better though :-)
I shall look into it.

Anyways, him being part of the Kings of C. explains all the
mediacoverage at least, so thanks.

somebody from the #IDM channel on undernet recommended this
to me, it sounds very amatuerish, but I guess the guys voice
is where he really shines, it's only good if you like his
voice..

this was the guy who sung on Röyksopp's "Remind Me", right?

Yeah, hes does some vocal for Röyksopp...

Personally, i really like his voice, but the album as a
whole is kind of bland. Ghost trains is good shit tho. Also,
is the last track a collaboration with the guy from
kraftwerk, or just someone who shares his name?? its not
really apparent!

But i'd surely say he's worth a listen.
