No, points have no value, they don't make anyone a better
member than a new guy.Its just an acheivement, don't you
think?

I don't know- a user having points make you more inclined
to:

Believe they're not a troll.

Buy/trade with them.

Know them better (they post more often).

That said, posting just for the sake of boosting your points
is a bit silly.

And a mixer and an FX box! My mic is a bit pony though...

Korben, yes I got them a few months ago. I've already played
out. I'm working on a mix CD at the moment...

what sort of music do you mix ceri? me, im into some idm
djing mostly the uptempo stuff...and dnb, like
edrush+optical, trace, ram trilogy. stuff like that.

ceri:

wicked - you got any tracks to listen to? hows the
scratching (do you scratch, or just mix. or both?). what fx
box you got? where'd you play out ... that sounds well cool

[and for good measure :)]

You mean tracks of my own music or mixes (they can be found:
here)? I haven't ULed any mixes yet...

I've got a Kaoss pad, cheap fx quality compared to what I
can do on a PC, but good fun and the interface is great.

I'm practicing scratching at the moment, but my crossfader
is far from ideal (I'm saving for a PMC-05) ad I need some
better slipmats, but I can get some good sounds out. I'm
going to try to UL a track featuring some of my own
scratches in the not to distant future.

I don't have a regular spot playing out, but I've played:
The Cooler,
The Fat Cat Club,
The Anson Rooms (same venue as Asian Dub Foundation, Finch,
etc.),
Some halls of residence's bar/club at the university, I
can't remember which one, I was absolutely hanging from the
free bar...

All those are in Bristol and not exactly famous, so I doubt
you'd of heard of them. I've also done a wedding at a social
club...

I'm hoping to get a regular spot (if only warming up) at a
particular local club in Bristol.

Ha ha, that's usually dictated by the venue. Sadly a fair
amount of rock (I always slip CTD in at rock nights though
:P) but I do the odd more open set that includes IDMish
stuff, FSOL, Rob D. Dust Brothers etc.

One of the reasons that I want a gig at the club I mentioned
in my last post is the fact I'd be able to play
predominantley DnB with a bit of ninja tunes jazz type
stuff.

Yes, it's hard to get downtempo drum and bass, so I always
think trip hop/dancey jazz is ideal warm up music for it.

Do you play out Dave?

no i wish! theres not really the scene here in st.albans.
and besides im in yr13 got a levels in 2months so i really
dont have the time. at the moment, im spending my free time
finishing my 4track ep. wouldnt mind doing a bit of djing
for cash tho...my equipment wishlist is about £2500, and a
car and vinyl, clothes, beer etc.

He he, I do gigs for free quite often.
What little money I make goes straight on records/equipment.
My wish is to get enough money from DJing that I can pay for
all my record and equipent without using money I get from my
job.

Don't turn your nose up at free gigs, it's all experience
and you make contacts that'll help you get paid gigs.
