would you say the remixes compiled on the 26 Mixes album are some of his best (the beck one would really make this album essential).. what do u think should have been included/excluded from the final tracklist?

I think the windowlicker acid edit could have been left off.. u can tell the label was like "look rich, you gotta give the fans something new! something they haven't heard, this is a collection of older material after all.." so he took about 6 half-a-second samples from an acessable (relatively.. considering his repritoire) and made an even more accessable, sparse umm... edit. edit is the best way to describe it because it's not a new mix really.. there was no remixing done really.. just an uninspired arrangement of short samples... esp. when dealing w/ his most technically amazing track, this seems like an insult to it.. this version is something anyone w/out his talent could do.

Beck himself didn't want the hairpiece mix to be on this album because Richard wouldn't play at a charity award thing he organised.

earthleakage.. .. what?
I'll restate my point.. he shouldn't have done a halfassed mix of a track just to fill a slot that would otherwise be better used for a very quality remix.. I see it as pandering..

what i've heard of the 26 remixes for Cash set was hardly enjoyable. the very idea that the two NIN remixes are the EXACT same songs as released by NIN on Further Down the Spiral is startling -- admitedly, they were both composed by RDJ anyway; but i was expecting remixes (ie. the album title). and i' not saying those aren't good tracks -- they are fantastic.
anyhow, i'm not impressed at all so far. perhaps this will change when i get a hold of the rest.

26 Remixes for Cash:
Great idea for a release Great songs
I'm sorry, but if you aren't a music pirate/huge AFX collector or both, then this is certainly the easiest way to get ahold of these tracks.
The remixes span over a long period of time and are some of his best works.. Many of them are markers of key moments of his sonic evolution. This way, what you are getting is like a retrospective of his career, without having to buy some 'greatest hits' album full of tracks you already know inside and out.
It's the best of both worlds really. You get a 2 disc, career-spanning collection of music that for many people is largely unheard.
I have all the stuff on there, and long-ago burned them onto a set of AFX remixes CDs, so I probably won't pick up 26 Remixes for Cash. But, it is a pretty kickass idea..
