school project: electronic music

i need to do a school project on electronic music, and this
is not JUST a paper, but a whole course(38h) worth of work
which means several essays, and stuff i have made self. i
was also thinking to do a cd for the teacher with other
'amateur' music makers etc. i have free hands with this

so feel free to suggest what would be cool (if you have
ideas) or if you want yourself to be heard by my music
teach..

thanks!

write a MIDI piano algorithm, then just let it run for the
remainder of the time, record it, and turn it in.

ill make you a track or something if you want.

you are all so helpful ;) it's not a class presentation,
just an individual course i need to do.. no point in scaring
the poor teacher with ventolin. oh please.

but i will start by writing an essay on richard d. james.

it is not about what i play to her, but how i can bestly
present the 'scene' to her.. i sure as hell know what songs
to play, so i was merely looking for 'unusual' ideas. like
the music collaborations of amateur music makers around the
world etc. i'm also thinking of doing the whole thing as a
'multimedia' (teachers just love that word) cdr. laa.

Play him some of the fight club soundtrack- pretty jazzy IDM

type stuff.

Feel free to play him any of my tracks as well...

Mention the AT remix of Gavin Bryars and also the Phillip
Glass Orchestration.

Make it a presentation similar to the one in Bill and Ted's
Excellent Adventure. Have the stage in darkness, then have a
spotlight come on in the middle with some suitably eerie
intro ambience (possibly afx237 v7) then you come in,
dressed in a leather dominatrix outfit. Approach the
microphone, announce "ROCK IS DEAD" and then have Venetian
Snares blast out of the many speakers you hid around the
hall earlier, while strobe lighting dazzles everyone's
eyeballs and you go round randomly stabbing classmates and
teachers alike.

Might garner a B-, if you pull it off

Speak about Electro accoustic Music For the source (
Stockhausen, Michel Chion, Parmegianni)
Speak about "vision of music in the idm" (sound research
,experimentation, tools) etc...
Before electronic we were doing music such as a painter now
we are sculptors.
Why dont you speak about the machines instead of the
artists. ex:TB 303, Roland 909

I would say use my stuff..but I wont be held responsible for
any trauma endured by your teacher and fellow students..and
all the standard evacuation procedures will apply..:p

i think its rather about presentation...

Try if you can find out how the mathematics of classic music
show up back in electronic music.

also see what you can find about the development and
similarites of rock turning to what we listen in here..

There is a book for 'Modulations' as well... Wayy more
in-depth than the documentary.

(The film was good, but rushed at times)

Get the book.

here ; http://csunix1.lvc.edu/~snyder/em/time.html

here http://www.obsolete.com/120_years/

should give you pleanty of inspiration - don't get too high
faultin about the links between stockhausen and autechre or
whatever - there aren't many one came from the academic
practice and language of serialisim the other came from post
detroit twchno - and got into the clever shit later
