Is it worth getting?
It's one big acid-mix right?
Does anyone own it, and if so, do you like it?

And what about this or this UI ultraviolet
I bet no-one has that one...

I have the UV one and the Green one. Spikee has them all.
Apparently the Mix CD is well worth getting.

I think it's a couple of tracks on Red that are by him. But
it could all be scurrilous rumour and they're all by Kosmik
Commando.

Points: 31271 Status: Lurker | Followup to giginger: #00566093

so the rest are not by him?
I mean green and the others

and the other question:
what % of the UI series is in the compilation?

Not at all by him. I think it's only two tracks on Red that
he's done. I'm assuming it's 100% of the tracks that are on
the Mix. I have no idea though. Sorry.

wait a sec i believe i have it in my mp3 folder...

offline JAroen from the pineal gland on 2003-02-22 09:26 [#00566130]
Points: 16065 Status: Regular

well i only have quoth but that one comes close, just add
some acid melodies

but you have to hear it, and if your into the style its
almost 100% safe to say you like it

offline nacmat on 2003-02-22 09:29 [#00566131]

are you sure that 100% of the universal inidcator series is
in there?

UI red features Martin Trezidder (aka RDJ) [all tracks]

UI green features Martin Trezidder (aka RDJ) and IG-88 [RDJ
did tracks on the 12" and 10"....the 7" has only IG-88
tracks]

the other UI releases do not feature RDJ

and it is good?
I ask that much cos I am thinking of buying it

offline Polynomial-C from Netherlands, The on 2003-02-23 14:15 [#00567927]

In my opinion these aren't exactly AFX's best tracks. Only
buy these if you're a collector. Red cost me $85 and green
$180...

Rephlex have never confirmed *anything* about UI... so
no-one knows 100%...but general consensus is what Poly-C is
saying Red & (some) Green..

They were all done on the same studio setup so that makes it
doubly difficult...

More info from http://machines.hyperreal.org/gearlists/rephlex.studio.tx......

" Roland SH-101 (midi-ed up)
Roland TB-303 (midi converted - slides too)
Roland TR-505
Roland TR-606 (midi-ed up)
Roland TR-707
Roland TR-727
Roland TR-808
Roland TR-909

Yamaha DX-100
Roland PC-1 Controller Keyboard
Casio FZ-20M Sampler
Alesis Quadraverb Plus
Sony DAT recorder
Fostex 4 track
Amiga + Sequencer
Untitled Capaciatance Bridge (1960's)
BigTrack (remember these toys?)
Whirling tube
Dodgy Answerphone
Telephone (essential for vocals)

And that is it (plus audio gear). He manages to produce all
the Universal
Indicator stuff on this (very often just the 101, 303, 606
and 808 - yes
he uses both in tracks). The Kosmik Kommando EP was produced
on the same
gear (using Mike Dredd's 808)...

Both of the Universal Indicator E.P.'s sold out before being
pressed up -
i.e. loads of orders....

The 303 was Kenton'ised (ie Kenton Midi converter + slide +
vcf midi port
on the 303 itself). However, Grant doesn't use it midi'ed up
(other than
to sync the gear). He still uses the internal 303 sequencer
(which is
half the fun of using it).

Grant sometimes uses some of Richard's (AFX) equipment, but
not really -
Grant produces alot of Ambulance house + acid....

Richard's home built stuff is mostly not working (home-built
sampler,
several noise modules..... lots of tweaking of all his
keyboards - but
he killed his 303 at one stage (before the Prodigy nicked it
off him).
Too much tweaking inside - but he would throw it about
though....."..

and yep, I agree with Poly C...these aren't AFX best tracks.
They are pretty basic dark Acid workouts so don't expect it
to sound massively modern or up-to-date...
