classical music is yellange fishes, pop music is pinange
fishes, industrial is dark bleen fishes, ambient is whaley
fishes and if you understand me because i'm happy right now,
there is sun, the sky is blue, and i'm watching the dust
dancing in the air of my room! that is beautiful luverane
fishes! w00t! ^^

fine too imo.

electro is something completely different

I like braindance more than IDM. IDM sounds like something
the americans made up (no offense to americans).

But yeah, plain electronica seems to work for most people.

no shit, this is a poll!
haha!

oh man

i say electro as an abbreviation. we abbreviate everything
here in australia

but yknow, im a humble guy, dont feel the need to use any
flashy terms.

its always a tough one to describe what i do, when people
ask me.. the best i normally manage is 'real messy electro'

and almost noone round here knows our biggest influence,

IDM sounds way too smug/self-superior, as if *this* music is
intelligent but the other stuff isn't.
How about 'music to bug out to'?

i would like to make new definitions:
idm is ok when its only taken for music that really makes
you want to move...
braindance should be any other electro then (id say
something that doesnt bore)

unluckily evreybody has another definition for something
that makes you move and something that doesnt bore...

damn difficult

i was thinking the same thing as phobia, electro is way
different

and personally, i consider braindance a rephlex only kind of
thing. anyways
i like drill n bass the best, but i can't use it for stuff
like BoC an such. All though i just describe them as "really
chill downtempo electronic". i've got my own little
description for all of them...
conversation:
girl (after seeing my home made I HEART VENETIAN SNARES
shirt): what are venetian snares?
me: he's this guy from canada who makes fucked up music
girl:why do you like him then?
me; CAUSE I LOVE FUCKED UP MUSIC

i calll it idm because its the official term. i dont care if
the word 'idm' sounds crap, thats what its called. deal with
it. i dont think rock sounds like rocks, and i dont think
pop has any 'popping' sounds in it, but it doesnt matter,
thats its name.

Why can't it just be called "Electronic Music"? Must if have
a single-word reference? Electronica just makes me think of
trance and dance shit. IDM sounds pretty good aside from
what it stands for. Braindance just sounds plain-out dumb.
So I say the term "Electronic Music" is the best thing to
call Electronic Music...

Alternative electronica?
Experimantal electronica?

I relise these names are shit. But the reaction on someone
face when you tell them whatt IDM stands for makes these
valid suggestions.

electro.. theres a whole heap of nightclubs which seem to
play the all same thing.

but yknow its picking up. here in perth theres a damn fine
radio station, rtrfm, and yeah, theyre play all sorts of
stuff. gotta hand it to them.

Ambient. Or something like that. Just call it Electronic

Or just keep IDM as a meaningless set of three letters and
forget of the meaning behind it...

A: What does IDM stands ?
B: I don`t know, but is mostly experimental electronic
music...

Or let's just call it electronic post modernism and start
acting like snobs ;)

yeah, i've never seen why people cant just call it
electronic music.. when you need to be more specific, you
can just say, experimental electronic music
when asked what kind, i often just say 'weird electronic
stuff'

a genre so wide and nebulous will never have a specific
title.. deal with it!

i just like the sound of it.

mostly i call it "weird experimental technoey styuff"
