Noise "Music"

I don't know.

I just pray this isnt the future of electronic music. With
Satanstornade being released, with critical acclaim, and
this new record , I fear that this is were we are going.

Its just kind of rediculous to me.

I mean, I dont want to sound like some conservative person
whos stuck in the past...

but like... making white noise music is not hard.

Not hard at all.

And its damaging to your ears.

Loud, high frequencies are the most damaging.

With a note on the satanstornade album saying "play at full
volume" or some shit... people are goin to go deaf.

Its pretty fucking stupid if you ask me.

And dont get me wrong, Im all up for crazy sounds etc (see
my last peice "5 Interconnected Passageways)... but I
mean... just a wave of white noise.... come on.

It just feels like people are like "i dont know what to do
to be the next innovator... i know... ill make pure noise
music!"

bah.

Thoughts? Comments?

pretty good NOISE, so I bet this one will be good too.....or

i don't like purre noise unless it has some sorrt of melody
orr something. i mean i can make my own purre noise just by
sticking my guitarr in frront of my amp.

i heard a lot about merzbow. but the first description i
heard of them was that they are 'noise terrorists'

needless to say that did not encourage me at all. i still
havent checked them out :)

funny that

"Intelligent" noise is good....... ie the moise acts as a
contrast to a melody, or it´s a build up`to something or it
gives the atmosphere the artist wants to paint..... extreme
and intense. Live noise, like with Whitehosue etc is best
appreciated in-situ. It´s context is the experience of
being there! Just like Sonar 2001 with RDJ! He went very far
into extreme noise terror and it reduced us all to fucking
jelly... the idea methinks! Music? arguable... sonic? yes
indeedy!

yeah, and stupid terms like "noise terrorists" or "head
fuck" and shit like that...

it pisses me off to no end.

sounds like a bunch of morons.

there is whole cults devoted to noise..creating and
appreciating it..I like noise if it can be modified and used
to create rhythmic units..other wise it bores me

key: yeah, in certian context is great. (see autechre or
SP)

but when the whole song is just "PSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

its like, give me a break.

oh yeah i did check 5interconnected passageways.

personally i would have dug some sort of percussive element,
even if it was just an impression of such.. maybe i didnt
turn it up loud enuf ;) guess pure ambient isnt my thing
either

but yeah wack sounds is fully what im into, i can definitely
relate to your direction. without! the sounds being
deliberately hard to listen to

flea: yeah, again autechre is a great example of this. they
got lots of noise, but its rythemic... its not just
PSHHHHHHHHHHH psshhhaaaaaaa PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

we have this show on local radio here and they play stuff

i think we're pretty safe zeus. no single direction is
going to consume electronic music, especially not noise. it
may gain more popularity and we may see more noise artists,
but i can't see it being the future of electronic music.

um i seriously doubt "white noise" (LITERALLY) sells albums.
as someone else pointed out, listen to the albums before you
bash them. clips don't count.

incidentally, noise and collage tracks are the only mp3's i
offer online...

To me neither, but I understand why it could be considered
as noise.

"um i seriously doubt "white noise" (LITERALLY) sells

yeah, but Im not gonna go spend money on an album that
sounds shit as far as ive heard.

not even in hearing... but in concept.

"incidentally, noise and collage tracks are the only mp3's i

ok?

yeah, i actually thought tri rep was noise when i first
heard it. sounds ridiculous now, but it seriously had so
little resemblance to music when i first heard it i wrote it
off as noise, with all seriousness.

its all noise.

either you like the noise you hear, or you don't.

nothing more to it.

i actually make a lot of 'noise' tracks, but in the end they
are just meanderings in search of beautiful sounds that grow
out of the noise. i have a pretty large bank of this stuff
and i'll use those sounds to sculpt my real music
eventually.

i send noise (and collage) tracks out or put 'em up for
download cos they're interesting to listen to and pretty
funny. it's not like i just hit a "white noise" button, and
i doubt these recording artists who are popular, respected,
and talented enough to have signed contracts (where's yours,
zeus?) are hitting some kind of random noise button either.
if you don't get it that's fine but why bitch about it,
especially since you freely admit to not having even heard
it?

white-noise, otherwise no one would like it...right? I've
even read some positive reviews on the internet.

youre such an asshole

1. i havent sent out demos
2. im in school and making records isnt something you can
just throw together.
3. i did hear the music. not the whole album, but a clip of
one of the songs. and thats enough for me to judge.
especially after reading reviews saying that THAT track was
so great. if thats the best i can expect, then screw that.

and its not a random noise button... but it isnt that hard
to just take something, and put it through a shitload of
effects.

what are you doing thats so great? you play other peoples
music on the radio. whopdee fucking do.

you sure do like to jump to conclusions! not only do you
judge a whole album based on short audio clips (or in the
most recent case, a review!), you assume that all i do
that's creative is play other people's music on the radio?
very incorrect. just because i'm not spamming the board
every day with new tracks doesn't mean i don't make music,
not to mention several other creative endeavors i'm not
about to discuss with you (why bother?). i'm not about to
degrade myself further so let's say "you win."
