Rap Music - IDM Crossover.

Does anyone know wicked Rap Artists that have IDM (or
experimental) influencend Instrumentals ? I have the
Arrythmia Album of the Anti Pop Consortium and this is
pretty trippy. I also like some Neptunes stuff (Jadakiss,
N.O.R.E.). What do you think about "I get high (Holdidy
Styles) " by Styles P. In my opinion that beat is just
genius.

I was thinking about this the other day while listening to
Power 106 with Big Boy (that guy is really funny) on the
radio. That song with Ludacris and Mystikal, Get out the
way...... whoooaaa.... , I dont remember the name, but the
drums in the back sound "IDM"ish, I thought it was be damn
cool if Ludacris just rapped on "IDM" beats and
melodies...... but for some reason I think the first rapper
to do something like that and try and make it main stream
would be missy eliot, she suposidly helped the Chemical
Brothers on one of their previous releases.

get the instrumental version of the cannibal ox album, it's
so much better without that aggressive, monotonic,
repetetive rap shit.

most of the stuff on def jux got great music, but sucky
vocals. rjd2 album is an exception.

ambient noises, thats about it though. its so damn good

do another album?

"dr. dre and timbaland, bt (sorry),
busta rhymes, missy elliott"

gimme a break, what lousy artists, busta rhymes first album
was decent but declined too quickly after that one.

don't be closeminded, dr. dre and timbaland turn in some
hella nice tracks. as for bt, most of his stuff i can't
stand, but he's done some nice glitch-hop collaborations.
missy and busta put idm on urban radio how can you fault
them for that?

offline MachineofGod from the land of halo's (United States) on 2002-10-05 14:21 [#00393709]

i doubt either of them have ever heard or even know what idm
are. i faul them for exactly what you said, putting idm on
urban radio.

if a rapper talks about just money and having sex then they
suck. to put it straight like that. jay z has made the
same cd like what 6 times now. mainstream rap is just
pitiful. old school rap that was mainstream was so much
better, i dont listen to but at least most of it was on
different topics than what most rappers rap about.

the trash you just typed isn't even worth a response so i'll
refrain. there're some good threads about hip-hop on this

listening to busta rhymes is ok as all long as you at least
accept other kinds of music.
