stooges are good but theyre not metal. they need king
crimson on the list though. and need to take out
acdc,vanhalen,kiss,motley crue,def
leppard,aerosmith,poison,bon jovi,david lee roth.ratt,kid
rock,tenacious d

offline USACID from Death Valley (Zambia) on 2002-08-20 03:25 [#00356834]

how do you put:

gnr - apetite for destruction
led zeppelin - 4(zoso)
black sabbath-paranoid
metallica-master of puppets
acdc-back in black
van halen
led zeppelin-2
kiss-alive 2
tool-Ænima
judas priest-british steel
motley crue-shout at devil
rage against the machine

in front of Slayer's Reign in Blood?? HOW HWO HOW????

first off, RATM;TOOL; Led Zepplin; GNR; & Motley Crue are
just "Hard ROck" not metal. Black Sabbath should be like #2
metallica should be before the other mention bands...

People that write for magazines smoke massive amounts of
crack!

offline MachineofGod from the land of halo's (United States) on 2002-08-20 03:43 [#00356851]
Points: 3088 Status: Lurker

i know its stupid, half of it isnt metal. its strange that
most people view metal as these sorts of bands when in fact
slayer and bands that are this heavy are true metal. but
somehow magazines and people think vanhalen and gnr are
metal.

offline MachineofGod from the land of halo's (United States) on 2002-08-20 03:45 [#00356853]
Points: 3088 Status: Lurker

i still havent heard much slayer, i should probably download
some. i dont like their vocals though

Tool are more than hard rock, theyre in a league of their
own anyways.

i don´t lidten to any metal these dayz, but i must say that
metallica´s "and justice for all" is a masterpiece in heavy
metal.

That's my favorite Metallica album. It sounds like it was
recorded in a tiny room. The drums sound small, like little
machine guns... I don't know what I'm talking about. But I
LOVE the sound on it, even if you can barely hear Newsted.

Im not a very serious fan of metal, but that list is
incredibly lame. GNR isn't even remotely metal. Megadeth
should be in the top 5. Def Lepard and Kid Rock? You have
got to be fucking kidding me. At least put Dream Theater on
there if you are going to put those groups.

offline Smyrma from Beloit, WI (United States) on 2002-08-20 18:33 [#00357578]
Points: 2478 Status: Lurker

That list is so much bullshit since they completely ignored
almost every 'extreme' metal band (as in death, grind,
black, hardcore) COMPLETELY from the list

PLUS Motley Crue sucks and have NO PLACE on this chart
especially ranked higher than SLAYER. PERIOD.

Sorry about all the caps. I'm just pissed at the list.

offline Joyrex Infinity from Andover (United States) on 2002-08-20 18:39 [#00357584]

Dimmu Borgir!!!
the drummer is so insane!!!

i would put these on there somewhere:

Dillenger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity

Converge - Petitioning the Empty Sky

Cave In - Beyond Hypothermia

Jane Doe is way better than Petitioning the Empty Sky, IMO.
It is just far more unified. It's more of a whole idea then
just a collection of kickass songs.

I've been listening to a band called "Decapitated", I think
they're Polish... They are fucking heavy!

Sabbath has to place above Slayer coz Sabbath invented that
shit in the first place.

I've heard it Puft, almost ambient stuff then small
grindcore parts

that Spin list really STINKS, the mag should change it's
name "Stink" :D

I'll say the last metal I listen to is Darkthrone... (the
rest just sounds pretentious these days)

(Machine of god, why you just don't copy and paste that
list?...)

awesome that someone else on here has heard that album...
I've never heard anything else quite like Disembowelment.
the atmospherics and reverb on that album are godly! one of
my favorites, anyway. the fact that nobody has mentioned
godflesh kinda disturbs me, though...

Hey man, I've got both their albums... I really like the
song 'Babylon's Pride'... the rest is good too though. And
they are Polish, and about 17 years average age -
RAAAGHHHH!!!

Yes, that band was some kind of unique inside the vast metal
universe.

Another band I really like is Pan-Thy-Monium, maybe too
weird for some people but for me is fantastic (I really
loved that submarine-saxophone and all the lovely chaos and
confusion)

yep, the first album by FF was cool at the time, and
Demanufacture has many great moments, specially Raymond
Herrera on the double bass drum, precise and powerful,
almost inhuman.

haven't heard the rest of the next albums but people don't
have them on the same level as the tirst two, have any of
you listened to those CDs?

offline Jarworski from The Grove (United Kingdom) on 2002-08-21 08:34 [#00358404]

Fear Factory were fucking shit, Demaufacture was a good
record in parts but they went downhill fast, unable to
attract crowds the likes of Korn command they went into
nu-metal mode with disatrous results. Fuck them FUCK THEM!!!
