oh dear.........
As much as we would like to THINK that goverments care about this kind of thing...... fact of the matter is..... they don't. And would probubly go to war with iraq even if god himself came down from above and said dont go to war. Its nice that people out there in the world hate war as much as I do...... but this petition isnt going to make a damn bit of difference. And in all honesty.... Sudam Hussan (sorry for the typos) is not that great of a man... or leader for that matter.... but that doesnt mean its right to start a war and have the possibility of perhaps thousands civilian casualties.

Well...... I think of it like this.... you have a war hungry capitolist president with extreme power right now..... trying to finish something his daddy didnt a long time ago. Dropping everything else and focusing on this with all his man power. There is a global announcement a while back after 9/11 that went ..."I greatly appriciate great britans supports as well as many other nations for there support on this war on terror.... any nations harbering terrorists or ignores this warning...." and basically says any countries agianst this will suffer reprocutions. So a massive world power is stating this.... its us or them attitude... and behind it all is a president foaming at the mouth with this possible political victory... not only that... but a good hefty percentage of the natural resources that come from iraq in the future.... one major resource.... oil. Its a stated fact that oil supply is finite in the world and that prices are going to jack up to astronomical prices in the future.... I am sure bush and cheney dont want their oil stocks dwindling.....And you think that agianst all of this...... a little online petition is going to make a difference..... its not that I dont support public opinion/outcry... I am all for the elf winning agianst the giant... I signed it.... I find it a little hard to believe that agianst all this... it will make any kind of difference.... I am sure the United States allready has covert special forces in the area giving intellegence reports...... and are allready planning for attack.....

Resistance is futile, Bush doesn't need permission because he has the most advanced army. It doesn't matter if Tony Blair joins the war or not, he only wants to "score points" with Bush, he might as well do that since it is of no consequence at all. The millitary power in the world is out of balance and that is the real problem IMO

MickeyMouse> damn straight bro'... they were planning a war with the Taliban for months before 911 gave them a convenient excuse to open up the opium trade and build their UNESCO oil pipeline with puppet Karzai's approval
Laserbeak> Right, Bush doesn't need anyones consent or help.. He couldn't give a shit if anyone else is on board, he'll do it anyway. Its depressing how much more insular the US has become since 911, now 94% of them are singing from Bush's hymn-sheet... It is all going so according to plan for him.
Blair & all British politicians have no respect in Europe for their toadying to America. I think Blair should join the rest of Europe in saying "Fuck this , enough is enough"... It would make me feel better, if nothing else. But he won't, sycophantic slag that he is

I have a much more interesting theory...... nato pacts and other various treaties will arrange it so we CANT attack certain people. A definate power struggle would come into play.... somebody down the line would propose a global goverment. Countries would attack and redraw their boarders..... inevitably creating this massive series of battles. Sooner then you would think it would come down to two powers.... and one would have to be the loser. A world wide goverment would be proposed and accepted by the dictating country who reigned the world. At least..... that is what I think..... and so do a lot of other consperacy theorists.

don't be to quick to try and ban war. war is a necessary part of the growth of technology. also if we didn't have any bombs to scare away the baddies, our countries would have been invaded long ago. Look at the Native american Indians for example. an entire race of people almost totally eradicated because they were peaceful and defenseless.
besides, i doubt if any of the 2nd and 3rd world countries who have been duking it out for ages are even able to get on the internet; let alone read an e-petition against the only thing many of these people have ever known.

but do u really think u'll see the end of war in ur lifetime?
do u think ANY person will EVER see the end of war?
i think humans will, some day.... but not today we're not even close right now
i just think it would be pretty naive, and hopeless, to try to end all war in one giant step
there are 6 billion people on earth you have to convince to be peaceful and loving, and im sorry, but u really cant do that all at once
especially given the conditions and enviroment (cultural and political) most humans live in and have grown up in

i dont know if they'll get rid of Saddam himself, but i think if the U.S. were to attack Iraq, they have a pretty good, no SURE chance of destroying his regieme (sp?) and government there.
the same government that KICKED OUT U.N. arms inspectors and provoked the sanctions against the Iraqi people.
the same government that wouldn't let them back in, even though the sanctions were killing its people!

The regime that they have replaced Taliban with in Afghanistan have per capita worse human rights violation than the entire Taliban did..so what purpose does it serve other than the US oil interests (Hamid Karzai was an employee of UNOCAL..look it up I am too tired to rpeat the Oil/ENRON links over and over)..what the removal Taliban has achieved is plunging Afghanistan into another bloody endless Civil War..
The UN arms inspectors WERE CIA..it's been long since proven and confirmed..
Well some of the same atrocities (my biggest problem with the current Iraqi regime is their treatment of the Kurds) are being carried out by Turkey as well..(Kurd cleansing is active as we speak in Turkey) but Turkey being a NATO nation has a right to carry out such atrocities while in IRAQ it merits a total decimation of a whole country's inncoent population???..The killing of IRAQIS at the hands of US is far greater in numbers than the Kurdish victims!!..
It's all about the oil..it's all about US approved regimes being placed in strategic/oil rich territories to aid, enhance and continue the flow of cheap fuel for the American Middleclass to burn on their way to family outings...
all of this just simply doesnt add up..neither does saying that you are anitwar and yet youu support War on Saddam..

Most of the Evil that Bush is out to eliminate was actually perpetuated by the previous US regimes
1) Bin Laden was created armed funded and supported in the US initiatives in Afghanistan during the Cold War to sucker punch the Soviets..
20 years later Bin Laden is the public Enemy number 1
2) Taliban was heartily supported welcomed supported and encouraged not only by the Clinton regime but also by the Wall Street Journal and the many Oil corporate heads of Texas in hopes that Taliban will bring the Civil War to a rest so that the pipeline from Uzbekistan to Pakistan via Afghansistan will become a reality..
6 years later the Taliban is the very definition of Evil..
3)Saddam Hussain was vastly funded and supported by the US in his war on Iran (The then vilest evilest of all countries..remember Ayatollah Khomani?..the other bearded comic book bad guy before Bin Laden?)..not only did IRAQ get forwarded untold amounts of conventional weapons but..read this very carefully..
The US gave IRAQ the ability and facilities to create Biological Weapons..so that they could be tested and used on the Iranians...
At the same time Ollie North and Reagen's regime was arming Iran under the table with Iran Contra contraband..
a decade later Saddam and Iraq is the evil figurehead that just must be eliminated with another decade of war...
dont you see a pattern there..
US faux pas being covered and whitewashed with more faux pas?
Wait for for the 5 years..when all of these US backed heros of the region became all the evilest villians..and the whole cycle repeats...

I find it so infuriating that those defined as a threat to "democracy" are deemed so by virtue of the fact that they have "weapons of mass destruction". WTF?! So the US don't?! They use tickle-sticks and custard pies?
The US has a rich history of murdering and torturing people around the (usually 3rd) world. A recent example was the bombing of a pharmecutical factory in Sudan. Aside from those killed directly by the bomb blast, tens of thousands have died as a result of lack of medicines. And this was done by the country that defines who is 'good' and 'evil' in the world.

The Anthrax was originated and distributed in the US by US men
so why this recent push on disarnament? of coming down on weapons of mass destruction that the US doesnt have?..

ya man, i KNOW, trust me
ya ya, the US is very 'evil' and crooked and they're motivations for going to war are NOT what they would have u think, and they've commited plenty of crimes in the past, and they continue to do so today and its all about money (oil) etc etc etc.....
but ur not seeing my point.....
even if the U.S.'s REAL motivations have to do w/ oil and they're misleading they're population to support the war.... (which i DONT neccessarily disagree with)...
it doesn't change the facts about the Iraqi government the facts i stated earlier, which you didn't disagree with.
these facts make them seem very dangerous.... and i wouldn't mind them taken out.
i mean, do you really like saddam husein? do you know what he and his government has done?!?!

ok this is all im trying to say:
1) the U.S.'s bs they've pulled in the past is all very impressive and incriminating, but its irrelevent. so are they're REAL motivations.
the Iraqi gov. is dangerous, and i wouldn't mind it being taken out, even if the U.S. is actually doing it for the 'wrong' reasons..... there ARE right reasons to do it.
2) ya canada is 'nuclear-weapons-free' too..... so what? do you think THIS petition will work? cus the issue at hand is the war on Iraq, and the petition is THIS one.
i'd like to hear osmeone say it would work, it'll be funny.
3) on the issue of mass-disarment...
Canada and NZ are in similar situations. we're both wimpy, militaristically UNimportant (almost irrelevent) countries. nobody HATES us the way they do the U.S.....
..and (most importantly) we both have some very powerful friends, who would certainly come to our aid if we were ever threatened.
all this makes it very easy for us to be peaceful.
nobody in their right minds would try to attack a first world country like this as long as we're friends w/ the REST of the first world, which happens to be very well armed.
try to convince the U.S. to give up weapons.... or better yet, try to convince Iraq, Iran, Syria, China, etc to give up weaons
as long as SOME countries (especially those ruled by violent dictators) have armies..... other countries will maintain armies as a deterent.
so.... i sort of made a mistake earlier... my "one country" example was wrong, and actually thats not really what i meant....
one country can do it b/c there'd still be a deterent to attack: that countries friends.
as long as there are crazy dictators, or any war-thirsty countries for a that matter, with armies....... other countries will maintain some sort of deterent.
