just got back from visiting new york city and rhode island.
I bought 7 or 8 cds heres what I got and what I think of em
so far:

-Mogwai: My Father my King: 7/10 (waste of 20 mins, not
enough happens but its decent)
-Cex : Role Model: 7/10 (Haven't listened to much but seems
alright but nothing special. whats with this saying 10,000
people bought this cd. that seems like a lot, i thought
even autechre, squarepusher didnt sell this much but I really
have no idea)
-Aesop Rock: Labor Days 8/10
-cLOUDDEAD - ST : 9/10
-International Noise Conspiracy 7/10 (they have good
politics in all their booklets but most of their music isnt
even nearly as good as their politics. theyres songs arent
even that political)
-Godspeed You black emperor - Slow riot for new zero kanada
9/10
-Autechre - peel Sessions 2 8/10
-Plaid - Peel sessions 6/10(my first plaid cd, its not all
that great sounds very amateur compared to many other idm
artists and its a little too uninteresting for me)

Autechre peel sessions kicks some ass!

Get plaids Double Figuere.. its much better... there peel
session wasnt all that great..... sounds like generic dance.
Or get Tried By Threes thats much better too

It's so weird seeing Kramer talk so seriously about
anything, especially INTELLIGENT dance music. :^D

i didnt wanna spend a lot of $ so I got the cheapest one
they had. I'll try a full length of theirs before I decide
what I think of them. thanks for the reccomendations.

machineofgod, u just said what i have been trying to say
about plaid for ages, but i just couldnt find the words.
thanx.
(very amateur compared with other artists.) perfect.

1)to rococo rot - the amateur view

2)philip glass - kundun ost

3)giardini di mirò - the soft touch ep

4)aphex twin - on

machineofgod try the last 2 plaid album & the p-brane ep,
the peel session you've bought are from the earlier material
and not so intresting

another thing about plaid that I find annoying is that in an
interview they said they listen to and like mainstream R&b.
I just can't see an idm artist liking this sorta stuff.
also the song names on Peel session sound like a joke or
theyre trying to make up words that sound cool but they fail
at it. plaid just doesnt seem up to par with
afx,autechre,jega,squarepusher,uziq etc. but once I have a
full length I'll make a final decision.

I saw a bunch of aphex stuff at the store that I wanted. I
saw On ep. 1 had a big logo and 1 had a small. I didnt
notice any song differences so I didnt know which On Ep to
get. I also saw that Mike and Rich cd for 14.99 but didnt
know what it sounded like so I didnt get it. also saw
ventolin ep. if i had a lot of $ i would have bought em all
but alas I dont.

professional than autechre,,,,autechre sucks,,,there i said
it.

I have about 6 of their cds and i think almost all of them
are pretty shit.

You think autechre sucks, and yet you have six of their
cd's?

:-p

What were you thinking when you bought the sixth one then? I
mean, you already had 5 of their album which you think are
pretty shit... why on earth would you buy another one?

i haven't heard anything else by them yet, but p-brane is
awesome! I never thought IDM could sound so catchy and
accesible!

WWOOOOOWWWW..Mike & Rich for 14.99? I know that's American,
and really means something like 24 Canadian. But I would
have WET myself! Ther's no way I'm ever going to see that CD
here in Edmonton. Oh man. You didn't buy it? Wow, I would
have got it for "Winner Takes All" and "Upright Kangaroo"
alone!

Plaid's "not for threes" is their most "advanced" album
(that I've heard)... I must say it has some rather cute
chirps and fun electronic organic sounds, and interesting
composition. I heard (I think double figure) and it did
sound very plain and simple so I didn't buy it.

Last stoof I got was;
Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Frozen corpse stuffed with dope
(still in the post cuz hmv are a pain)
The Hypnotist - House is mine (remix) on vinyl from 1993
Fear Factory - Digimortal (nothing compared to the two
albums before that)
Pop Will Eat Itself - Cure for sanity

That was all the kinda odd stuff tho, I'm after a bunch of
stuff from ZOD and Rephlex but need a new Vinyl case first.

I actually dont like Snapcases earlier stuff, I had
progression through unlearning (think thats the name) that
was pretty recent and didnt like that too much. I like
Designs for automations and the songs ive heard from the new
End Transmission sounds even better.

also the Mike and Rich I saw had a picture of them on the
cover like playing a game from what I remember.
