New Chris Cunningham shit

Does anyone know when his Drukqs video is coming out? What
tune is it?

Also, is Neuromancer ever going to get made? The book was
so good it made me realise how pants most sci-fi is.

The Matrix proved you can have difficult concepts in an
action movie. Neuromancer: Hangover from world conflict,
corporations controlling governments, biotechnology gone
mad, the War On Drugs failing, the Internet replacing
reality... if anything, more relevant now than ever. And
now a fucked up geek can be an action hero (Spiderman,
anyone?)

Cunningham directing and RDJ providing the music!? How
awesome would that be? I don't suppose anyone is up for
petitioning the studio to make the damn film?

the only movie to come close to tackling issues raised by
Neuromancer is Ghost in the Shell...
but I find it hilareous that all the Industrial fans want
FLA to Soundtrack Neuromancer and the IDM fans want it to be
Aphex but in realiy when Gibsom wrote that and the short
stuff on Burning Chrome he was listening to Bruce
Springsteen and if he had it his way he would probably want
U2 as a major contributer to soundtrack..as evident on
Johnny Mnemonic...heh..he might have popularized the
architecture for Cyberspace(it actually existed prior to
Gibson)..but he has crap taste when it comes to music

I mean he was on it since he was a teenager..maybe he grew

William Gibson doesnt seem to have a post punk, (or even
really punk) understanding of, or interest in music... i
think i read that he liked Stevie Nicks... he maybe just
wanted to do her

Front line Assembly... that sounds like a joke, even a
burned out acid/junkie like Alain J (Ministry) could still
do better...

agreed. it's funny cos FLA take big samples of aphex in a
couple of their songs.

it would be cool to make a movie. i sorta have an idea for a
story as a book, but it's still only in embryo at the
moment. i do have a title for it tho.

i like FLA... some of their songs are awsome... dont forget
they are not IDM so you caun't say they suck compared to
aphex

What's FLA?

I started this thread after reading the Corbijn (CC Rider)
interview with Cunningham, which for some reason I thought
was only a few months old - i.e. newer than Monkey Drummer.
I just reread the article (in the Learn section of this
site) and it's undated. But they don't mention any monkeys,
just Chris with weird prosthetics.

I always thought Gibson was a VU fan: one of the spaceships
is called Sweet Jane and I think Case gets "Waiting For The
Man" stuck in his head at one point... I should reread the
book but I lost it :)

The only DrukQs related video that Cunningham did (besides
Monkey Drummer) was the short clip featured at drukqs.net
set to AFXV237, of which there is a longer sequence but will
probably never get released.

you can buy "monkey drummer" on dvd, now.

WeaklingChild: Really? Where? To my knowledge, Monkey
Drummer is NOT available for sale on DVD...at least not
cheaply, unless you're referring to the version that is on
the Creative Review DVD that only subscribers get. Even then
it's not really commercially available in the sense you can
go buy a DVD with it on it at the shop, unless you know
otherwise :)

Chris Cunningham told a friend of mine that the full version
of the AFXv237 video probably would never be seen in it's
full form. He didn't give a reason why, perhaps it's too
disturbing.
