That I too found a little weird

That whole thing in Episode 1, where she's like "One day he
just popped out!" or something

ohhh ok ok, get THIS

if he was fatherless, reflecting jesus,

then mr lucas must not be a christian, cause anakin goes
evil, and HE MUST THINK JESUS IS EVIL

and such

Anakin may hav been made by cloning a Jedi, and then letting
him grow up and mature from a child to an adult.

I've been reading Star Wars Episode 9 lately, and Grand
Admrl Thrawn tells his 2nd in charge of his plans.... they
being what i mentioned above. His 2nd in charge, Captain
Palleon (sp.), even refers to "clone war methods" in his
response.

haha, i sound like a star wars nerd now! :-)

So maybe Anakin is a clone. Even though he does hav a
mother... hmmm. still possible!

In the novel, which goes into a lot more detail, she gets
kidnapped and tortured quite badly by the Tuskens.

I'd highly recommend you get the novel and read it. There is
a lot more in it. It goes into the detail of how Cliegg Lars
goes after her with his gang of mates, and there is a lot
more detail of Anakin killing all of the Tuskens too!

That is a very good question.....one of which I am not sure
of the answer.......it sounded very much like the 'virgin
mary' story didn't it!

I will put my thinking hat on....and get back to you on that
one! :)

Anakin isn't a clone, that much is for certain.

What you refer to as Episodes 7,8 and 9 with Grand Admiral
Thrawn - they are not officially Episodes 7, 8 and 9 -
merely follow on/spin off stories that were licenced by
LucasFilm.

Yes....but very doubtful that they would ever be official
Episode's.

'Star Wars' the story, was just meant to be about the rise
and fall of Anakin Skywalker. ROTJ completes that story.

Don't get me wrong, I think it'd be good to have
more.....and I think that MArk Hamill, Harrison Ford and
Carrie Fisher have ages sufficiently to reprise such
roles.....but I wouldn't hold your hopes though!

there were officially 9 episodes, i remember mr.lucas saying
so in an interview - i think, hope! :-)

Yeah, i wish they had made an extension after ROTJ. I love
all the bits afterwards, with Rogue Squardron, Mara Jade,
Thrawn, C'Boath and so on. I think that the New Republic
being situated in the Imperial palace on Coruscant a bit
weird, it makes my back tingle when i read it - it makes me
think of Palpatine, haha, i get too into it!

At the end of ROTJ u get to see Coruscant, im sure, when it
shows all the people celebrating :-)

Oh cay, i need something cleared up!
Was there an animated series about the ewoks? I'm sure i
remember something like that!

oh, and i read that Mara Jade is actually in ROTJ, at
Jabba's Sand Barge thingy! I cant see her. She's apparently
trying to kill Luke Skywalker - her misson as set by the
Palpatine.

Has anyone spotted her?

Jedi Chris, I've done some digging and I now understand what
u mean by Zahn's novels being something different to the
film. I always believed that Zahn based them on something
that Lucas had made, obviously I have been misguided
somewhere along the lines! Hmmm,im sure there's 9 episodes
tho.... oh well, its late and I've got a music course
tomorrow, n'nite!

Anakin was created by the Mididclorins(sp?) or the force ,
inside Shmi Skywalker.
The Force is his father.

there is a scene in episode 1 where qui gon jinn
hypothesises that anakin must have been conceived by
midichlorians. i think that was supposed to keep us happy.

there is one thing that really amazes me, it's how stupid
jedi's are. yada keeps mentioning that the prophecy of the
chosen one who will bring balance to the force. there are
shit loads of jedi's and 2 sith. if the chosen one will
bring balance it's obvious he's not going to be good.

The hoopla over the The Phantom Menace, the last Star Wars
movie, largely faded without any mention of one of the most
remarkable facts it revealed. Namely that The Force, or at
least the power to tap into it, is already inside all of us.
It is a molecule that Earth's biochemists have known about
for many years. It's ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, the
fundamental carrier of energy in the human body.

You say you missed that part?

It comes late in the film, when Qui-Gon Jinn, the Liam
Neeson character, takes a blood sample from little Anakin
Skywalker, the kid who will grow up to be Darth Vader, in
whom The Force, as we know, is very strong. When the blood
is analyzed, it turns out to have a midiclorian count way
off the scale.

You still with me?

This is how we get to ATP. Midiclorians, as Jinn explains,
are microscopic creatures that long ago took up residence in
the bodies of humans and all other creatures. They're
symbiotic organisms that live in all our cells.

As it happens, all human cells really do contain symbiotic
organisms that took up residence in the dim evolutionary
past. This is a story that biologist Lynn Margulis has been
explaining for many years. These symbiotic organisms are the
size of bacteria, quite a bit smaller than regular cells,
and they contain their own DNA. They even reproduce inside
our cells, dividing just as bacteria do. Cell biologists
know them as mitochondria. The singular is mitochondrion -
apparently a recent corruption of the term midiclorian used
long, long ago.

offline Jedi Chris on 2002-06-08 23:02 [#00256342]
Points: 11496 Status: Lurker

Mitochondria are the energy sources of all cells that aren't
bacteria to begin with - the cells of animals, plants, fungi
and protozoans. They really are an energy source that
pervades the living world, supplying the force that makes
our bodies function. That power is packaged in the molecule
ATP. When mitochondria make this molecule, they extract the
energy from food and repackage it into the molecular
structure of ATP.

Food's energy comes in all kinds of different chemical bonds
depending on what you had for breakfast. Mitochondria
contain the apparatus to process those diverse sources of
chemical energy and repackage it into one convenient form,
ATP, that is distributed throughout the cell to power
hundreds of different kinds of chemical reactions that make
up metabolism.

Think of ATP as a microscopic battery that can be used to
power muscle contraction, DNA replication, nerve impulses -
all the things the cells in your body do.

Now, of course, Qui-Gon doesn't actually use the term ATP.
No doubt they had a different word for it so long ago and
far away. But that's clearly what is meant by The Force. So,
in actual fact, The Force is with all of us.

Many avid Star Wars fans were upset by this revelation in
the movie. Even beforeThe Phantom Menace opened, Web sites
and chat groups were abuzz with rumors about midiclorians as
a symbiotic, sub-microscopic race that lives in people, and
only through this species can you feel The Force.

offline Jedi Chris on 2002-06-08 23:02 [#00256343]
Points: 11496 Status: Lurker

Fans said George Lucas had ruined their concept of The
Force. They wanted it to be a mystical thing and not a piece
of scientifically explainable, biochemical machinery. As one
fan wrote of midiclorians, ''This feels sooooo wrong, sooooo
unright, sooooo non-in touch with the force. I just don't
see the need in it, and ultimately it only brings harm.''

A similarly innocent belief has surrounded Earthly life,
beginning in the distant past and, despite the promulgation
of cell theory in the early 1800s and increasingly
mechanistic explanations of life throughout this century, it
has not entirely died out. The belief, a philosophical
stance called Vitalism, holds that life at its most
fundamental core can never be understood or explained
because it relies upon supernatural phenomena involving a
spirit or soul, without which we are just lumps of clay. To
expire is to release the spirit or to give up the ghost.

The fact is that biologists who study cells and genes can
explain a great many of the processes that give rise to life
in cells and in those aggregates of trillions of cells -
human beings. Life is not more mysterious than the chemical
reactions on which it is based. Those reactions are all
logical, all understandable. No sign of any mystical
phenomenon has turned up in the study of how life works.

The Force is with us all, and it can be understood right
down to the behavior of the subatomic particles of which
life is made.
