Sasha is king of the cheese breakdown. full stop '.' That's
about it, he's a wanker personally + the music he plays is
so 'ordinary' it's shamefull. People could do the same style
mixing with great tracks and rock the party but he's awfull.
Check some ther Djs if you are after a mix. Sasha will ruin
it for you...

Check...

Green Velvet or Derrick May,

They'll mix the equivalent energy but it's really original
music, independant artists that'll do it...it will .....

Sasha's Xpander EP is good. Those are orginal songs by him,
no remixes. And there damn good.

I'm afraid I have to leap to Sasha's defence. He doesn't
play cheeesey breakdowns at all. His Global Underground San
Fran mix CDs are class; quality deep and progressive house.
I hate this snobbery that all you "IDM" fans have about
house music.

I agree! It seems that the only good artist in most peoples
eyes here are artists that aren't really well known.
Surethey're good but Sasha is good. His music makes me smile
and it was good to hear him do the soundtrack to Wip3out. I
was very pleased!

Have you heard his track with Darren Emerson, 'Scorchio'?
Great Spanish guitar riff. I don't think his own stuff is
the best but the stuff he plays and puts on his mix albums
is always great.

I like his own stuff a lot. I'm not a big fan of continous
mixes, so it was nice to see him make his own music.

He's taking a fuckin age for his album. He burst his eardrum
in a car accident last year and this apparently spurned him
on to work on the album. Hopefully it'll be good.

Sasha is revered as the second best dj in the world. . . In
last year's DJ Magazine that was the position he got,
anyway. (John Digweed was the number one best dj, and I
highly support THAT decisiion!)

Hmmm I wonder if Richard D. James was in that DJ Magazine
Issue, the top 100 dj's in the world?

Do you buy the Gobal Underground series?

I gave up by the time they got to Darren Emerson. I got a
bit bored with prog house. I love Hybrid though and BT's
Movement in Still Life is great. Do you have Deep Dish's
Yoshitoshi mix CD?

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-05-31 15:10 [#00244422]

Nope, but I have Deep Dish's Moscow set, and I have their
Reneissance, Ibiza set too. Also I have their normal cd
Junk Science.

BT's MISL was good, along with Rare and Remixed, but of all
his material I like Ima the most. . . that incredibly lush,
heavenly, and most-certainly UN-CHEESY trance, It's so
exotic and beautiful!!!

Its class mate. I also have the Renaissance mix but haven't
got the Moscow CD. Any good? I've got more into deep house
lately; jazz, latin or afrobeat inflected stuff. Its much
more soulful. I still play Sasha's San Fran mix though;
clearly the best in the series (that I've heard), much
better than the Ibiza one.

Then why post on this thread? By the way you look like the
bastard child of Paul Oakenfold and Timo Maas.

offline Deathsmith from Brussels (Belgium) on 2002-05-31 15:17 [#00244438]
Points: 1027 Status: Regular

Lol I haven't even listened to either of the Deep Dish mixes
yet. . . . just haven't gotten around to it.

Narkotic. . . .hmmm what are you doing? Besmirching Sasha,
because you'd better not, because he IS quality
material!!!!

I honestly can't say that I own any Sasha dj mixes yet,
though. Where I live in Canada I have to pay at least $30
for an import Sasha mix, and I've got other priorities on my
cd buying list, but i will get around to buying one of them,
sometime.

Yep Narkotic you do indeed. . . the resemblance is distinct,
despite the somewhat indistinct photo.

good guess guys, i am that man.

wait, go fuck yourself, timo maas is ugly, i have no respect
for people that will make fun of what i look like when they
can't even post a picture of themselves up. what are we, 13?

I will post on this thread, possibly becuase the subject
matter is on Sasha? MAYBE? PERHAPS?!

I wasn't making fun of you. They're good loking boys (for
apes).

Why post on a thread about someone you're only going to dis?
Me and Death, who both appreciate him, were talking about
his stuff. If you have a decent criticism as in "he used to
be good but he's shite now" or "he's a bit cheesy" fine. But
to just say he's a wanker is playground shit. Who's 13?

I don't care how you look, or whether or not you're a
Timo/Oakenfold hybrid. . . no offence intended, although it
is common knowledge that Timo Maas is one hideously ugly
d00d (and so is Oakenfold, and he's brash enough to put
himself on the covers of most of his cd's!!! Shame on him!!!
At least Maas put some little Asian girl on the cover of
Loud!!)

Ummm. . .. ok Narcotik what are those supposed be lyrics
from a Sasha mix?? Whatever!!!

Sasha is a highly respectable man!!! Unlike Aphex Twin
djing, Sasha truly loves what he does, to the depths of his
soul. He FEELS the music, and for him and his pal Digweed,
djing is a very emotional experience. . . which is as it
should be.

Xpander IS very ovverated but Rabbitweed is awesome. Nothing
prefabricated at all, nothing cheesy; just killer shit.

Xpander may be overrated, but it's a damn good song. Baja
is good as well. I mean shiiit, his Xpander EP is the best
release by him IMO.
