just like seemslikesalvation.com, i used to like the nin
site, then the site covered all nin manson korn, ect., and
it was so annoying, i was trying to get certain nin news,
and all they had was manson or whatever.

I think the casual posting at soulseek changed the way
people post here. I'm getting 3 cd's in the mail soon, but I
forget what they are...

SLS doesn't cover korn, just all the bands on nothing
records plus anything related to trent reznor, charlie
clouser, danny lohner, jerome dillon, robin finck, chris
vrenna (tweaker), telefon tel aviv (idm artists lohner has
worked with), and the occasional story about david bowie or
a perfect circle since they've played with nin before.

but yea i too don't actually look forward to xltronic
either, truth be told. i LIKE how phobia will be able to
spend more time on it while spending less money, and i also
like how we'll get to read more news about different artists
we like, but i do not like the url change. since
aphextwin.org disappeared, .nu and joyrex.com have been the
only exclusively afx sites online. now they're both covering
other artists, meaning there'll be no definitive afx page.
i'm not down with that.

Well, you might find my approach to the multi-artist site a
bit more appealing than xltronic - funny too, since Phobia
has said little about how the information is going to be
organized, and that will determine if xltronic is a success
or a failure.

I say you reserve judgement until the site goes live and you
can see for yourself if it's what you want. And, I'm sure
Phobia would listen to feedback if there were failings in
the site, so just wait and see - I'm sure you all will be
pleasently surprised.

of course i'm sure both new "conglomerate" signs will be
visually apealing and informative. all i'm saying is that i
think a lot of the community spirit will actually be
diminished. i see it this way: imagine if someone turned
their nirvana site into a nirvana, alice in chains, pearl
jam, mudhoney, soundgarden page. yes, of course there's a
lot of people who like several of those bands, but you're no
longer surrounded by just nirvana fans, just chains fans,
etc. it becomes less special. but i know you and phob are
frustrated with how things are currently so i support what
you're both doing despite the loss of the commradery found
in sites specific to one artist/band.

...reserve judgement til you see it; seems kinda wack to put
it down before it's even here....

And really, it's not as if this is a 100% AFX board
anyway....scan the mb at the mo and I'm pretty sure you'll
see a similar list of topics at xltronic...

if you are really concerned how it's gonna be, then email
phob and see if you can get involved...

i dunno. Phobia´s got good reasons to put out
xltronic.....guess we´ll have to wait and see. personally
though, i´m only into u-Ziq and Squarepusher as much as
Aphex, so i guess i won´t be into many threads about Ae or
BoC. Anyways......i love this MB, and can only hope that
the next will be as good or even better than this one.

; )

no one should have any beef with the site's content, i'm
sure it'll be impeccable. look how nice this site is; it'll
only get better. my only negative thoughts on the matter is
the loss of a definitive site for afx lovers. even tho the
mb obviously covers tons of people and things, we're all
united in that we appreciate the music of aphex twin. but
the new site covers so many artists (which is a good thing
as far as information goes) that you're going to get lots of
new people that you won't *necessarily* have as much in
common with. i love this mb cos the recommendations (music,
films, books, whatever) are so good due to the fact that we
come from the same place. that might still be the case on
the new board since the artists are on the labels we all
like. only time will tell.

yeah..I know what you mean re: Aphex not having a devoted
site on the net; it will be sad to see aphextwin.nu fade
away...

but as long as you lot as still around, I can't see the new
site being a failure...:)...
