Boards Of Canada - Backwards Messages.

Hey folks, in the Geogaddi album, BOC's song "a is to b as
b is to c" has backwards message on it. The sample say's "If
you go down to the woods today, you'd better not go alone'."
I found it at this site. www.speakeasy.org/~adbrown/boc.html
The site also features many interesting things in BOC's
Geogaddi album. Crazy.

There was a topic about that a few weeks ago.
Some people did the test, and reversed the song.(me too)
It also said:"We love you all"

boards of canada is the band i'd have in one of my
nightmares if there'd be one...

satanic messages, sweet music and pictures of children —
none of these are scary, but the combination of the three is
a bit disturbing...

'adanac fo sdraob' is the ancient renochilmian for 'satanic
childs giggling in giant orange kaleidoscopes while eating
oranges'...

BoC weirdness is all part of the experience. I'd love to
know what is being said by the reversed voice in 1969 (i
heard it was something about david koresh).

wrong..it's an ancient druid chant which is evoked at birth
of the cattle..loosely translated it mean..may this inductee
into our realm be unburdened with thoughts but plentyful
with means of our sustenance...

the most mysterious thing about it is this picture of white
on black numbers at www.warprecords.com, on the BoC
gallery... something to do with the fibonacci suite maybe...

someone once killed themselves after listening to a Judas
Priest record backwards which is really strange as it only
usually happens when you play them forwards

little known fact..the marketing dept of Warp are closet
druids and it's rumoured that furious chanting of "Adanac fo
Sdraob" was heard from the offices with various samples of
birthing cattle looped, amplified and reversed on the night
before the official release of "Geogaddi"

that the one you're thinking of?

It looks like BOC has been put into so much hard work into
this album. Might be one of those albums that magazine's
called "The best album of the year".

urb, i guess that's it. I couldn't understand any of it
beyond "1969 in the sunshine"...i didnt realize there were
other coherent samples in the track.

I would watch that..saying "sdrawkcab" backwards three times
in the mirror..turns you inside out..literally... with the
organs on the outside and skin on the in...

Playing "1969" Backwards, couldn't find anything, I need an
acapella of the version.

"1969 in the sunshine"... why? these lyrics are stupid. the
sun can't shine a whole year long! it would prevent him from
rotating. that would be cruel! let the sun do what he
wants... he has the right to move too...

it's only 'david koresh' in the middle of the sentence
that's backwards

I think they're talking about the "summer of love", which
1969 was also remembered for, in addition to the manson
murders.

I've heard that it is some backward-messages in devil in the
details too. But have anyone of YOU guys tried this? or is
it just bullsh*t?

offline uzim on 2002-05-10 16:07 [#00214071]

here is the picture. it is part of the fibonacci
sequence — or at least it seems so. don't know it it has
a meaning or if it's just to startle us / make us wonder
about it / make us realise how BoC loves maths.

tool's lateralus lyrics (the track, not the entire album)
are following the fibonacci suite too — at least for the
first lines.

'You Could Feel the Sky' and 'A is to B as B is to C' are
supposed to have some "backmasked" messages. Unable to
sample from my cdrom now so I can't verify..

I think 'The devil is in the details' refer to the fact that
the cd is 66:06 long.

yep.. (the size in mb is just a direct result of the length
though)

btw. one thing about the fibonacci sequence is that as you
progress, the ratio between the previous and last numbers
approach the golden ratio.

backwards is drawrof.
backbackwards is forward.
backrofwards is forward.
drawrof is backwards .
backsdrawkcab is backwards.
forbackkcabrofforbackwards brings you to the 4th dimension,
but backwards.
fackwards souns funny.
borckwards sounds utterly disgusting.

true....the golden ratio is also behind that A is to B as B
is to C...

Much as I LOVE MATHS (and I do...)..all this number larks
doesn't make the music any better...

Give me a blank CD a la MEN1 or ABBIII anyday...

i read somewhere that the DNA sequence had something to do
with the fibonacci suite, and that genetic modifications
"breaks" the suite...

I didn't think of that.. but yeah, that's the definition of
the golden ratio.

doesn't add anything to the music.. makes it more mystical,
and gets people talking though (which would be a good thing
if you were selling a record)

urb : i read this on ecologist propaganda, in fact ^^

it isn't proved that broken fibonacci sequence in DNA
affects the organism by the way... and i think "natural"
mutations break it too. i don't really worry about that. :)
