That's because they probably are.

Especially if you live in Britain- more surveillance/square
foot than anywhere else in the world!

Ever thought that the world really does revolve around you
and nothing exists outside what you can see? like in a
computer game, its generated as you go along and the
background scenery is al mock!

a very self centred viewpoint mind

or maybe nothing exists at all except yourself, all the
other things you see, hear, feel, etc. are just illusions
created by your mind... an even more self-centred point of
view :)

uzim: It is summed up with one question, cliche'd but very
deep:

If a tree falls in the forest, and noone is there to hear
it, does it make a sound?

offline uzim on 2002-04-28 21:31 [#00198451]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

or everybody's the same person, the same entity... a very
powerful entity which would have a lot of forms... if
someone knows something about you, everybody does, because
everybody is just one person which just seems to be several
persons... and you're just a plaything for that entity...

"If a tree falls in the forest, and noone is there to hear
it, does it make a sound? "

....wow, that could, like, work for so many things....

=)

offline uzim on 2002-04-28 21:34 [#00198458]
Points: 17716 Status: Lurker

Xanatos : indeed... it reminds me of that "schrödinger cat"
thing... you can't know if the cat if dead or alive when the
box is closed, so the cat is dead AND alive...

would the tree make a sound AND make no sound then?

offline uzim on 2002-04-28 21:35 [#00198459]

(if dead or alive = is dead or alive)

schrödinger cat-- I have to read that I'm not really
familiar yet, but I know about it.

The idea is, look at your keyboard, then close your eyes.
Ask yourself if the keyboard is still there. You will out
of reflex touch the keyboard, and say yup, it's still there
even though I can't see it. But what if your sense of touch
was turned off too? How can you really prove it exists if
you can't sense it? You know it used to exist, but while it
is not being sensed, it doesn't really exist. The sound of
the tree is just a bunch of vibrations unless peceived by
ears. The whole world around us is just a vibration of
energies, which only manifest themselves as the things we
think they exist to be, once they are perceived by us.
Until then, they are nothing.

That tree thing is dumb. Of course it makes a sound, it
creates sound waves. So it makes a sound regardless if
anybody hears it or not.

That's called solopism.

My "binary theory" revolves around what I call "neosolopism"
which is much as B3N said when talking about videogames.
