This friday master Luke will play at the Doka in Amsterdam,
set from 01:00 to 04:00. Since I haven't seen any promotion
for it in last months I thought I'd chip in and do my part,
hoping some xlt people will show up!

are the laziest.

i really haven't liked vibert at all since We Hear You :(

this sounds like more of that :\

specifically, his repetitive samples have gotten really bad.
they never bugged me before, and older tracks still don't
bother me, so i'm figuring it's him, not me.

correction: "rhythm" was bad in this sense as well, but
album itself is alright.

he said something along the lines of "i'm too old for amen
andrews now" in one interview and then "my kids need shoes"
in another, his albums are starting to show that a bit much
for my tastes. probably still great as a DJ, though, as it's
a bit less intense than making an album.

in any case, he seems like a nice chap, and i appreciate
those sort of frank admissions, so i figure i'll switch from
buying his new albums to buying up the older releases i
pirated, get some more vinyl, etc... contrast this to aphex,
nonstop bullshit all day

I usually like at least a few tracks on his recent releases
(we hear you: belief file, hot sick, porn shirtwee;
toomorrow: chunkothy, mr. mukatsuku), but have also found
myself buying up the older releases (I just got ataride).

I'll happily continue buying vibert until we all die.
Always looking out for those unique vibert moments that give
me the shivers; the last 30 seconds of natural suction, or
the entirety of shadows...

well, i try to avoid worship and give what's due. some of
his stuff was before i knew of him, more of it was when i
was in college and broke. if his kids need shoes i should go
back and buy what i pirated, but i'm not going to give him
cash for the fuck of it.

while i'm here, press up a thousand or five copies of tallo
ho!, please? i'd rather not buy used; unless this world is
total shit it'll sell out within a year or three and it will
work out financially

Too bad crazone, but Ceephax is great as well. I was
planning to go there as well but Vibert rarely plays in NL,
whilst Ceephax plays here a lot so I changed my plans. That,
and Luke's DJ sets are just mental.

And yeah, Vibert's recent stuff isn't that up to par with
his old stuff, but I still really enjoy the new stuff. No
pretentions, nothing to prove, just having fun with what he
likes. He did say in an interview that since having a
'proper life' with kids he isn't that messed up (drugs, no
sleep, etc.), so the music has changed with that. Still,
that last Wagon Christ album was my fave album of 2012 I
think + this new track is my fave track since Shadows,
that's saying a lot.

Yes, if I had known vibert was playing I'd probably gone
there to, anyway: have a good time next Friday!

I hope the Ceephax party was good? The Vibert night was a
bit 50-50. The DJ before him was pretty boring 4/4 hipster
deephouse blabla and while Luke was scheduled from 01:00
till 04:00 he played from 01:30 'till 03:00 (after which the
boring DJ played again) but MAN did Vibert rip it up, even
with some sound problems. Started to clean up all the 4/4
samey stuff with ridiculous banging early 90's british
hiphop, and then all the Vibert DJ classics. Luke deserves
better, but a great set makes up for it.

Besides the fact that I woke up at the pavement at 6 in the
morning, and the fact that I was to stoned to communicate
with others due to overdose of cannabis oil, it was a great
night with excellent electronic music and a meet up with
ijonspeches!
