calling it idm isn't so bad

obviously if you're into idm you're already
listening to it; therefore, the difference between calling
it braindance (which I do prefer, however) or idm is
basically aesthetic.

”idm” is for those few people who ask you what music
you're into, and when you tell them that it is
”intelligent”, pretentious as it may be, they're as
clueless as they was before. and when you finally play the
first couple of minutes of ziggomatic 17 they'll tell you
they're not into "techno" anyway (!).

"braindance" has the advantage of not needing an acronym.
it's a sweet, little cake that tastes as good as it looks.

the cake isn't a lie

I've stopped using idm since edm became a
term.

I only listen to sextronica transica-telligent
dancebeatstep.

It's like Kenny G music mixed with Willow.

I just call it dubstep, since we all love dubstep and people
who listen to dupsteps are popular and hip to the maxxx. And
then they go like 'oh yeahhh I loveeeee skrillex' and I be
like ' fuck that gay sextronica transica-telligent
dancebeatstep the XVII shit'

then i bust out my dubturdo and show them the magic

I'd never heard of EDM until yesterday, where it ambushed me
from some comment about Daft Punk.

I'd never use the term IDM and I don't think any of the
music I like comes under such a name. It's all Ambient
Techno.

i've given up on genre names for this stuff, it was never
cohesive to begin with and even less now.

the most specific i'll get is the record label if im trying
to describe what i listen to other people (along with
avoiding saying dubstep). fortunately i hang with folks
who'd actually at least know warp if not mu or rephlex.

EDM is the scurge of electronic music. You can't really
describe what EDM is, it's this amorphous blob that absorbs
weaker producers in its path and turns them all into the
same plastic poppy sham of a scene.

all other genres of electronic music can become EDM if done
with a sufficient lack of heart and ingenuity.

EDM is a twat in a mouse mask that prompts some famous
detroit electro guy to go on an anti-semitic rant, hurling
accusations of said twat being a failed music journalist

I used to call it that because that's what the shops
labelled it as. Now for some reason I feel silly saying
electroniCAH. It's fine, whatever. Electronic music. Music
made with synthesizers. Genre obsession. I EXCLUSIVELY
listen to ELECTRONICA BITCH FUCK YOUR ROCK.

The computer algorithms are created by geniuses, then made
widely available to be wielded by retards. Its the same with
the videogame industry. So I would call it GAWBR (genius
algorithms wielded by retards) music.

'experimental electronica' works for me: most of them
(the other people) seem to understand that.
