i noticed that some drum machines actually use ROM samples instead of synthesizing the sounds like a civilized machine would. who plays the drums sounds for these machines? how much do you think they make in royalties? i am thinking of a future career as a drum sample artist. i will hit the drum with a stick and make millions. my drums will be heard round the earth. |

the samples are made by edna rosenthop of warwick, R.I. she bakes them in her kitchen and gives them to yamaha for free because yamaha shovels her driveway in the winter and mows her lawn in the summer. |

vaguely remember reading about how someone at sequential went over to korg/roland/yamaha or something and got the ball rolling on this stuff after he noticed companies were nicking each others' noises. could have that completely jumbled though.... |
