i know. it's pretty rich coming from an englishman too,
given the horrors they've inflicted on the noble sandwich:

I was surprised and happy to learn of Alan Moore's reaction.
Also a few digs at Frank Miller for good measure

I particularly enjoyed, "Communiqué from the 99%" on
http://occupywallst.org/.

A few observations:

- She claims to be "so good at calculus". Yet lacks the
basic awareness of compound interest that any reasonably
intelligent 12 year old would have. So much so, that she has
managed to get herself into a position where she has to pay
$700 interest every month to stay in the same place.

A cheaper, quicker and more sensible model to apply is:
Work long hours at a job, whilst living very frugally and
save up. Then spend the savings on a year's tuition, whilst
you continue to work part-time. Rinse and repeat.

- Her written communication skills are not the finest I have
seem. Perhaps she is a solitary genius who will, working in
isolation, develop a functional example of cold fusion and
does not need other people to understand her work. More
likely, she will need to work as part of a broader team and
learn how to communicate clearly with other in technical
reports.

- She feels upset that people treat her as stupid when she
messes up their order in the bar she works in. Presumably
she feels that because she is good at 3D design, this
somehow negates the ball ache of not getting the food you
ordered.

I feel particularly well-positioned to comment on this as I
too worked in a bar (and restaurant) whilst I was working
(free of charge, to gain experience) on design work for an
engineering project on an international stadium. I can
categorically state from experience that whenever I spilt
wine or gravy on someone, they were never any less riled
because I was good at Autocad and was nominated for an award
for "Innovation in Engineering" for my work. YOUR
PROFESSIONAL ASPIRATIONS AS AN ENGINEER ARE UTTERLY
IRRELEVANT TO THE PEOPLE YOU SERVE IN THE JOB YOU ARE DOING
NOW.

Iii dunno, man. It sometimes works out. Sometimes one job
can fix another. Like I was recently working on a corporate
branding project (new logo, website, color schemes, all that
shit), and they really weren't feeling it. I knew it was
right for them in the long-term, but they were like, "...Not
really agreeing with this direction. Do you know what we'd
like to see?" I was like, "No-- but I do know that I killed
3 men in an underground Chinatown street fight last night,
with my bare hands. I made $3,000, which is 1/4 of what
you're going to pay me for this project, and you will accept
everything as is. Because the designs are fabulous, just
like my leaping sidekick that imploded Terry 'Steamroller'
Thomson's ribcage. I have the hi-res files on CD right
here."

As I held up the CD, I made sure they saw my white knuckle
cartilage sticking out of my torn skin from smashing-in
heads, the two missing fingernails on my left hand, and the
bite-marks on my palm.

"Yes, yes- we agree. Nice work, nice work... Very clean
design, and we love the eco concept. WEEEEELL- our work
here is done. Sandy will get your check..."

"CASH."

"Yes... of course."
