so, imagine you're a mild-mannered music nerd, and you grow to love this message board about IDMs. except, the board is run by a colossal twat. at first, whatever. you just avoid him like the plague and keep your nasty thoughts to yourself. this works for a couple years. then the colossal twat running the board hatches some crackheaded, born-again texan scheme to "make the board about the music again" and starts deleting a bunch of popular threads, being a patronizing asshole, etc. and when people complain, he goes on some whiny rant about how it's his board and we're all just guests so stfu and do as you're told. at this point, you finally lose it, and bitch him out. "you can't own a community, you don't own me, stop being such a colossal twat." the hot, awkward light of truth shining down on him is too much. he panics, and bans you. you spend a few months kicking around the other boards like braindance.uk.net, xlsxchronic, and even the terrible shortbus that is idmforums (seriously, you can't give those chaps sharp objects) before realizing that the colossal twat has literally banned 1/3 of the core members of your original, preferred board. the clincher comes when one of the most old-time, well-respected members has a blowout with joyr- er, the colossal twat, and walks. you realize the time is now. time to uncircle the wagons and head west. stake your own claim and that's how you get banned from an IDM board. |
