Is anyone into them? I just read a really good biog on the
band by Simon Price. I highly recommend it.

I was over in Ireland a couple of weeks ago and ALMOST
BOUGHT THAT BOOK!!

I was looking for that Modulations book about dance music
and I saw it with the cool cover with the four shirts.

I'd heard it was good. I'd better get it then. Thanks for
reminding me :-))

btw have you seen the MSP DVD Leaving The 20th Century? It's
pretty good.

Is it the Millenium concert in Cardiff? I bought the video
and went myself.

The book is definitley worth reading. I don't like the stuff
they've done since the Holy Bible but I still see them as a
great band. Check this interview

No, no, no! Its definitley the Holy Bible. The band went
shit when Richey left. The music on the bible is so raw and
stripped down. The lyrics are just amazing.

I only like "Found that soul". That and their album launch
gig in Havana. But that was obviously marketing gesture. But
they pissed a lot of fools off with that so, thumbz up.

Yeah its naked celebs right? Something on the top of my
screen where it says 'internet explorer' and the website
address had something about sex screening on it. They have
filters here or something, or things that register what you
look at.

I typed a memo recently regarding students of this college
looking at porn. They'll get kicked out if caught so i must
be careful.

Can't look at that stuff here man - too many eyes on my
back. Cheers anyway.

If you haven't heard the Holy Bible check it out. Its really
raw and the lyrics are class - stuff about anorexia, the
Holocaust, US imperialism, prostitution, self mutilation...

Uhh, just put those pics on a disc and take 'em home. But
it's not porn, just JL Hewitt in various pretty pics, she's
not even naked or anything. Yeah, my girlfriend digs MSP,
but they are way too "pop" for these ears. And I know about
their lyrics and all, but it always sounded like a pose to
me. Have you ever been into Conflict, now that was great:
thrash with militant anarchist lyrics!!!

offline jonesy from Lisboa (Portugal) on 2002-04-11 14:05 [#00167671]
Points: 6650 Status: Lurker

Oh right, yeah they're nice thanks. She's beautiful. I'm
such a teenager ha, ha.

Never heard of Conflict. Do you like Napalm Death?

Yeah the most of the Manics stuff is AOR pop rock but the
Holy Bible is something else. Richey James was a smart guy
but that nicky wire is a dick. He thinks he's really clever
but comes out with crap.

I saw MSP at Rock im Park last year. They played pretty much
a greatest hits set and they didn't play Miss Europa Disco
Dancer or Wattsville Blues thank god, which are both a waste
of time.

I used to like Motorcycle Emptiness and Theme from MASH
before I was a fan. The first album I bought was Everything
Must Go.

That and The Holy Bible are my favourites, for different
reasons.

I think Generation Terrorists is 70% shit
Gold Against The Soul about the same
This Is My Truth...snore...
but their last album with a few exceptions was surprisingly
good.
Brilliant car music.
Found That Soul is their Go Let It Out though. Just a
standard shoutalong song. Nothing amazing.

I've also got 21 Manics singles although hardly any before
EMG.

The fucking cunts in my office are really annoying me, so
now I put drukqs in my cd drive: try this one for size
fucking bitches!!!! They smoke and talk shit all day...

Anyway, I LOOVE old Napalm Death (up to 1989, after that
they chenged line-up and went incredible shit), one of my
bands is a total ND clone and we've been going for the last
ten years... I even heard some bizare story that Napalm
Death sampled my voice on their Enemy Of The Music Business
(sic) album, a bunch of punks and metalheads from my country
swear that's my voice... But I never had any intention to
hear the album... Fuck them, fuck them, fuck them...

Conflict were really influential in the 80s, but did some
stuff in the 90s too. Anyway, MSP is hardly my fave band,
but I'll try to give that album a listen, just because of
you. Do you want more JLH's pics?

I'd agree with your take on their albums. I've not heard the
latest one. This Is My... put me off for good.

There's some early b-sides which are good. If you want some
I can send you a tape.

Yeah more pics would be nice. Keep it clean now Meho!

Sorry to hear that your colleagues are getting on your tits.
I know how you feel.

I've been meaning to check out some ND for a while. I was
onna go and see them last year but forgot about the gig
until it was too late.

So you're in a band? cool. I used to listen to heavy stuff,
the usual though: Machine Head, Sepultura, Pantera, Fear
Factory, Korn (oh dear).

oh dear, oh dear... The new Napalm Death is crap, but you
might like it, judging from that list of bands there. Well,
I liked 1st Fear Factory and 1st Korn (oh, dear) and
Sepultura is one of my fave bands even today. If you want
REAL napalm death, check out "Scum" or "From enslavement to
obliteration" or, better double peel sessions, probably the
best grindcore record of all times. About my bands, check
out that other thread called a proposition to all or
something...

Oh, yeah, I'll get more pics in a minute...

I was playing Roots the other day. Its still great. Did you
get any Soulfly? I sold mine as I didn't like it much.

I bet you love Limp Bizkit don't you? Ha, ha. I saw them
supporting Korn with Helmet years ago. They sucked then.

Didn't Barney from ND get into some shit with some nazis in
Russia some years back?

Yeah, Barney got in some shit with some band they were
supposed to play with in Russia, and this band was more or
less sporting some fascist views. But in Russia, that's
practically improvement... Anyway, ND are full of shit from
1989 on and all of this was more about the marketing than
about reality. (a piece of trivia: as Conflict were promised
to be attacked by Aryan Nation or some other Racist/ Nazi
organisation on their first US tour, they brought baseball
bats with them to fight the bastards!! That's some fucking
attitude)

Limp Bizkit? They suck as hard as any of the bands that were
spawned from Bio-Hazard's fucking sperm. I always said that
I don't hate Bio-Hazard as much as all the crap that comes
in their wake (and I kinda hated Bio-Hazard bigtime).
Actually there's this website called durstsucks, com or
something, I'll try to find it: it's devoted to thrashing
Bizkit's singer... Ahh, soulfly is too formulaic for me I'm
afraid... Try bands like Neurosis, TodayIs The Day and
Discordance Axis for some of the most extreme, yet
respectable music nowadays.

Ahh the fat bitch by myself suffers from Aphex Acid. Die,
cunt!!

Cheers Meho.

When I was getting into heavier stuff (heavier than poodle
rock) I bough this magazine which had a free tape with it.
It had stuff like ND and Bolt Thrower on it. I played it but
thought there was something wrong with the tape and took it
apart and reversed the tape inside. What a dick!!!

Are you allowed to play music? This place (Britain) is so
uptight that the radio is all you can get away with.

Why don't you bring in some ND tomorrow?

The end of 54 Cymru Beats is so extreme. Venetian Snares
comes nowhere near, even though he's great too.

No, if i bring something obviously extreme, they'll make me
stop it. Therefore, APHEX does the trick as he swings from
sweet to hellish. But I do play Dead Kennedys and other
HC/punk when nobody is in the office. Of course, for these
people even BoC is extreme...

Uhh, yes, the end of that song is really painful, but
Venetian Snares is like that all the time, I couldn't play
it here, they'd shoot me.

SOD were a side project: two guys from Anthrax, one from MOD
and one from Nuclear assault (but he was also in Anthrax
before). Their first album was like, made in three days and
was like: metal boys give a nod to hardcore. But it was
really good, even though it more or less betrayed hardcore
ethics with lyrics about this and that. But it got very
popular and kicked that whole crossover thing in the 80s.
They made another live album in '92 and another studio one
in '99. They have a thing for making 7 years visits. Anyway,
some of the lyrics on that first LP were about unity and
usual HC stuff, but Billy Millano (their singer and an all
around asshole) also made some racist and nationalist lyrics
(I mean the album is called Speak English or Die: aimed at
immigrants). Sore throat, a grindcore act from (i think)
Bradford then made a bunch of songs trashing Billy Milano
etc....

Dead Kennedys: a band for you, my man: some of the best
political lyrics ever written plus kickass music. I have all
of their official stuff burned on 5 CD's, so if you need it,
drop me a line.

This girl I was friends with back in high school, her
brother was into HC and gave me a list of stuff he could
copy for me. One included SOD and then I saw the Speak
English or Die album the other day.

This guy put a nazi song on a tape for me. It was from the
film Romper Stomper. Nice.

I read recently that Ice t was really into an Oi band called
Screwdriver. Weird!

I'd love to hear some Dead Kennedys and would be willing to
send you some stuff in return. I'm stuck in the past however
and still use tapes. I haven't got a PC to burn CDs on.

no probs, man, some £ could be OK too, just fer the costs
(about £2.5 per CD plus 4-5 or less for postage I'd
imagine).

Yeah Ice-T was into Skrewdriver, a well known fact. Stupid
asshole... I mean, their music was shit anyway, xcept for
the early stuff (when they still didn't have any RAC/ NS
affiliations). If you want to trade, send us a mail, as not
