possibly one of the most under-rated Aphex tracks?...I mean
I rarely ever see anyone bring it up...yet I remember it was
the first teaser track released out of drukqs and it floored
on the first listen....
still does

It's not underrated. It's my favorite Aphex track (esp those
last 2 min.)

"To Cure A Weakling Child, Contour Regard" – 5:10
is a lot better in my opinion

54 cylaj goie beats is kinda in squarepusher 'copy paste
bits of a pattern around' territory, a lesser art compared
to more more well thought out stuff, imo and the fluffy bear
lyrics don't help. If you listen to a lot of tracks on the
come 2 daddy album at half speed you can hear lots of subtle
quality on the micro level whereas I doubt 54 aer;oi beats
would have much. Its just macro, relying on speed to
entertain but I'm kinda immune to speed now. There was a
cool 'acid' melodyish piece in it though.. not nearly as
acidic as cornish acid though.

hmm I think we are comparing two totally different tracks
here..apples and oranges almost...no doubt I love all of
Come to Daddy EP... but a very strong and cohesive melody is
driving holding the reins of To Cure a Weakling Child...most
of the drum hits are acid based (don't kill me everyone if I
am wrong but the drums sound like processed 808s to me)

54 Cymru beats is a different beast all together..yeah it is
drill'n'bass and yeah it is agressive but you know me i like
agressive stuff. But I disagree that it is cut and paste or
speeded up Amen Breaks. In fact it is much closer in the
aesthetic to Bogdan's Samurai Math Beats or Boku Mo Wakaran
than Squarepusher. Aphex is programming and painting
patterns from a whole kit. What I like about the song is
it's dynamics, the shifts are quite unpredictable, tension
is built and released, some segments are densely packed
others are sparse and haunting (as opposed to the melodic
theme holding To Cure a Weakling Child together.

And the production is amazing, clear and sharp enough to cut
like a knife but retaining a heavy bottom end.

all of the drill tunes on drukqs are fucking amazing,
the beats on cymbru are classy, but i think i preffer
ziggomatic or mt saint michel cause they have more melodies
and a more 'beautiful' background... and i dont think its
underrated, ive read lots of comments here about it,
specially by the time the album was released

Yah, when Warp put up the teaser 54 cymru beats mp3, it was
nuts.
