Hey -- just discoverd this guy a while ago and must say I
really love his music. Just listened to snippets, not sure
which to get. Which are your favourites of his?

Tim Heckers a bit of a legend, format purchase Harmony in
Ultraviolet its immense. My favorite tracks of that album
are Harmony in Blue II and Dungeoneering. Then get An
Imaginary Country (also brilliant) and make sure you listen
to the last track really loud. He's really great at making
such intense moving music that really spaces you out if you
listen to enough of it at the same time.

He's super. Borderlands is one of the best tracks i've heard
in years, but all his back-cat is great. Respect to the man.

I think his best all-around work was Harmony in Ultraviolet,
but Haunt Me Haunt Me, Do it Again is fucking brilliant as
well. You can't forget An Imaginary Country, his newest. In
my view, all three are essential.

Really like the first track off Mirages "neither more nor
less" it's the reason I brought the album very nice piano in
a really weird vibe. Incurably optimistic! is proper nice to
got it on now. He's playing at this event soon :
Godspeed

I'd like to ask if anyone knows why Haunt me is out of
print? Or if they will re-release it?
Upon first listening, that would have been my favourite.

Haunt Me

Haunt Me is also my favourite, but his two latest albums is
really great. All in all, I would say that all his albums is
well worth checking out. Fantasma Parastasie is the release
I enjoy the least. Be sure to check out "My love is rotten
to the core", a mini album with "remixes" of Van Halen, and
also his alias Jetone.

Yes, Borderlands is really emotional piece, as is Chimeras.
It's really rare that electronic music grabs me emotionally,
but he manages to do just that.
Just got Imaginary and Ultraviolet based on the
recommendations of everyone here! Thanks!

Tim Hecker was pretty amazing to see live. The venue was
kind of small, so the acoustics really reverberated. All of
those textures filled the room and made them feel very
spatial/dimensional.

What does he used to get these sounds?

offline greggreg from United Kingdom on 2010-06-28 14:29 [#02385551]
Points: 143 Status: Lurker

Maybe guitars/synths/pianos/recordings and other instraments
processed with computers running standard music programs and
homebuilt proccesing stuff maybe in max or Reaktor. Outboard
analog/digital effects, tape and different guitar amps that
all go into a mixer and probably can be re sampled then
takes that signal and repeats and repeats until he gets the
desired sound then records and builds it up on the computer.
There's a video on YouTube with him playing with isis and
he's running some sort of proccesing thing on his laptop
have a search
