Are they a heavy metal group? They must be with a name like
that.

the intro to 'money to nothing' by dire straits is
very....special.-seriously, sting whispers 'i want my mtv',
theres a heap of prog rock guitar distortion in the
background, and then a marathon drum solo leaps down your
ear shafts. dire strats has to be one of the BEST bands
ever.

im sorry. im in a daft mood today. and because of the bank
holiday, im still unsure if its wednesday or tuesday. but my
serious fav intro has to be the fade out of back in the ussr
and then the fade in of dear prudence from the white album.
its lovely lovely lovely.

The dynamics of Dire Straits songs are a work of genius.
Check the slow build ups in tracks like Telegrapgh Road,
Private Investigations, On Every Street. These are
life-affirming.

jonesy: you are asking seriously? Haven't listened to
Godflesh? Oh, jesus, the ignorance of the masses. And I bet
you've listened to Pitchshifter because they are from your
town and they are only a Godflesh wanabe clone.

Fuzzbox?! I saw one of their singles on the weekend at a
carboot sale. Pink Sunshine - classic.

I didn't buy it, despite the temptation. I bought Nightmares
on Wax 'Smoker's Delight' for 50p - bargain or what?!

Mark Knopfler's ex-wife used to teach me drama at secondary
school! And, apparently, the song Romeo and Juliet was
about her.

Just to make matters weirder, the headmaster at my school
was the brother of Michael Eavis, the guy who organises
Glastonbury. Weird or what?!

Yeah, and to Extreme Noise Terror and Napalm Death as well,
and Godflesh are a kind of early ND offshot, their leader
used to play guitar in ND and drums in Head of david later.
Their music, I admit, has a lot of metalic influences but is
the only significant inheritor of early industrial music of
the late 70s. Streetcleaner intro has this serial killer
saying: I didn't hear voices. It was a conscious decision on
my part" etc. Scary fucking shit and then the drums and
guitar feedback kick in. I feel like shooting up fucking
adrenaline every time I hear it.

jonesy -that is a bargain, and yes pink sunshine is nice,
but imagine if pink sunshine REALLY existed? just think
about it. your not laughing now are you?

manicminer-your school sounds great-an educational
institution whose staff MUST be related to someone famous.
all of the staff at my school had famous pets...

Plaid usually have some great intros, as well as BoC. Did I
mention Plaid kicks ass? ;)

Photek-Axiom

Some dark sounds creep towards you and suddenly a silenced
gun goes of three times and you hear the shells land on the
floor.

Masterfull!!!!

That gun sample is from Goodfellas when Joe Pechi wacks
Samuel Jackson in his apartment.

Too pity about the split tho, but different minds and

word that
plaid is deff better. however i owned the black dog stuff
before i owned any plaid. i didn't really appreciate the
black dog stuff untill i got really familiar with plaid.
also, i got most of the black dog stuff when i was in my
depressive industrio angst post highschool pre-college grad
pre-girlfriend phase. now that i am a happier person, i
enjoy black dog stuff more.

Yeah, Ken Downie was a pioneer and has inspired a lots of
electronica artists. I talked to him (messenging) a few
weeks ago and he said he has enough unheard material for
several albums. I almost pee my pants.

This is btw my 1000th post. How silly of me saying
that.

strong melodies without the help of Ed and Andy.

believe. Can't remeber if it was any good. You can't really
