debate

Aside from that video, what do you feel about rules? Do you
feel they are necessary? do you think a society without
rules would work?

"let's have an intellectual debate" that's almost like
saying "let's make intelligent dance music". i'm sure you
people are intellectual enough to read my opinion between
these lines.

Dance Music. Dance Music's dumb, it's like the rhythm goes
bomp bomp bomp bomp (this is called 4/4 or something)
and then some synthesizers play cheese over the top (which
as you know are much easier to play than guitars, hell, I've
seen some play themselves. Hit the "Demo" button and bosa
nova your way into the charts) like a kind of durr
durr... DHURR DHURR
(I'm thinking of "There's no limits"
by Technotronic or possibly 2Unlimited). A lot of people,
ok, some people, weren't happy with Dance "Dance" Music
because they were intimidated of going to clubs that had
leary blokes and women in so they called out for Intelligent
Dance Music so they could go to clubs, not have to do that
whole humiliating dance thing, and not have to put up with
girls. This was a clever move. IDM gave birth to the
Internet via the IDM Mailing List, and Aphex provided the
sounds for The Dial Up Modem. Then the IDM crowd realised
that they no longer needed to go out to IDM clubs but they
coud stay indoors and avoid people whilst still making a
contribution via message boards, forum, mailing lists and
news groups. The music dried up as there were no longer any
available varients on the words Aphex or Autechre, so
instead of IDM there was Intellectual Debate.

It dried up? I thought we all had a silent agreement to
stubbornly deny this, ehm, fact.

this ID stuff has a hard time getting of the ground. perhaps
we should all drop the facade for a minute here to
contemplate hwy this is the case. when we're done, we can
all return using our personas.

yeah i know. but i think madness comes with 'religion' not
good ideals. do you not feel that religion - a time tested
observation of life and its meaning - is worth something?
