I remember my brother downloaded it and he played it from
his laptops shitty built in speakers, but even so it sounded
phat as you like and i remember feeling really excited!!

So i played it again later on my system, it seemed so
detailed and clear but i couldn't keep up with it. i had the
album for ages before I had really absorbed it

I remember I d/l this album in August, 2001 very vividly. I
went down to the local record store and also picked up "2
Remixes by AFX" the first day it came out and being blown
away by the mental acid. What was the best thing about it
was the fact the tracks sounded produced at different points
and was compiled together. I remember that fall taking the
CD with me to my trip to Europe and going to the art
galleries in UK, France, Netherlands, Italy etc and
listening to the album as well as seeing Richard and Luke
spin a great set of electro, jungle, acid, and even some of
my friend's tracks at the Ocean club and meeting like minded
folks there. Makes me think of that period of my life each
time I listen to it.

must have been a collection of "holy crap!"s, "what the
hell!"s, "what the fuck!"s

...and a couple of "OK"s for the piano tracks.

first impression: omg
waited patiently for my copy from the shop
and spun them on a really shitty setup back then.
was baffled and speechless about this massive output.
left a strange feeling really.
also i remember having thought this is a
squarepusher album in a caustic disguise^^

i heard it on the radio i think it was 54 cymru beats and
another song.i thought it was awesomely good.

the guy in the radio show said :there is only two people in
the world who can make this type of music aphex twin and
squarepusher.

disappointed. it's considerably more middle of the road than
his immediately previous releases- orange, rdj, ctd,
windowlicker where all much more inventive and interesting
records.

thought it was mental at first. i was only young just
getting into aphex / squarepusher / boards thought it was
too nuts at first. slowly got into i reckon it has some of
his best tracks on. its not his best album though.

from the record store, i parked my car under some trees, put
on my headphones and played disc 2. i had high expectations.
i remember thinking the mix was weird, something with the
high end. i also remember it blowing my fucking mind. that
was a great day.

I think I liked the tracks like Vordhosbn and Cock Ver10
more than the piano tracks at first. But it has so much
variety of timbre, that the album has massive longevity. I
kinda enjoyed it in layers of dancey electro, piano,
experimental electro e.t.c

I remember when I first discovered how amazing Mt. Saint
Michel was- I was in a park on a sunny day with my friends.
I said it felt like I was moving really quickly between
different parallel universes and my friend said he felt he
was time travelling, or somehting, I think.

Another of my friends can play Avril14th on piano. I tried
to learn, but it was more difficult than Matt made it look.
;)

I had lost interest in RDJ since "windowlicker" so I didn't
bother listening to "drukqs" when it was released. When I
finally did only "Avril 14th" made any lasting impression on
me. It's great he is up to better stuff nowadays...

got the leak off soulseek before release. LOVED it. didnt
understand why most others didn't. "nothing groundbreaking",
"he's done these styles before" and "probably fake" was the
general sentiment.

I was blown away by Jynweythek Ylow, and thought that it was
a natural progression from the last track on the last
release (Nannou). Then I used quite a time working my way
through it. I liked it then, and still do.

it was hard to get through at first, but damn if it isn't
the most artistic and personal album he's ever done. no one
else has really done an album like it, the mix of styles is
very fitting.

i had a single 12" driver in my truck (at the time) in a
7ft^3 box (yes, in the back cabin of my truck (ext cab)) -
and it did around 135+dB at 33Hz (box was tuned F3 @ 27Hz) -
and my friend brought some early drukqs tracks to play and
there is this low bassy moment towards the end of
cockver10and we looped it till the sun was up

I'd rather listen to Selected Ambient Works 85-92 or
Classics than Druqks. It's good stuff, but not his
best...in my opinion...

bear with me i discovered it only in 2003, at that time the
only things i heard of him were come to daddy and melodies
from mars, plus it takes decades for me to judgje such a
complex piece of music with certainty, i started loving
SAWII as a whole just a few months ago, figure out

i got and listened to the album in the way to university,
and i had that unique impression when i first listened every
new afx album to the date...
a new sound to my ears, different and strange,
i rest perplex and amazed.
then i laughed on 'come on you cunts lets have some afx
acid!'
on the door of the library.

That it has got too many redundant tracks; but at the same
time I instantly fell in love with 'Vordhosbn'. I still
think it is the best track he has ever made.
