which is, according to you, the record which represented a
landmark, a model in the last ten years (1991-2001) and will
influence music from 2002 to the next ten years? ....I'm
thinking

If you think on a global scale, then it's got to be Ricky
Martin, his first one in english

I don't have a clue about the world at large, but for me,
the most influential recordings were My Bloody Valentine -
Loveless, Aphex Twin - On, and Labradford - Prazision

well this may sound silly but speaking for my self i would
choose the blue album by weezer. it has given me alot of
inspiration. ive learned that you dont need much to make a
good song. just three chords and and come vocals. ive later
discoverd that Ramones whas one the first to do this but i
think the blue album is in another direction when it come s
to hard pop music.

Actually, I would have to agree that Nirvana was one of the
most influential records of the decade. They marked the end
of the popularity of terrible 80's hair bands and began the
grunge era of the 90's. They influenced a whole movement in
music.

endtroducing completely changed my outlook on non-mainstream
music

i have to agree, nirvana nevermind changed alot of things in
the music business. before they came out there was alot of
cheesy poppy crap on the charts and they paved the way for a
whole swarm of "punk" kids to start forming bands and get
known.
the introduction of nirvana marked the beginning of slightly
more liberal radio.

now radio sucks again though.

a little band called Suki Takahashi, www.sukitakahashi.com,
not my most influential but really good. Combines
electronic with real instruments. They aren't around
anymore, but when they were, it was fun. I recommend
listening to the public pool.

although I don't really like Nirvana, I'd have to agree that
Nevermind was the most widely influential album of the last
decade. Not the best, nor really deserving of the
signifcance it has gained, but definitely a major turning
point of the decade.

i learned to make beats by listening to I Care Because You
DO and Richard D. James. So those 2 for sure influenced
me. Aphex Twin and Squarepusher changed my life, i bought
turntables then $5000 in studio equipment because i heard
they're music. As for the most influential for everyone, I
dont know.

personally

download-Furnace
and
subconscious studios-Paradigm Shift comp
..it melded Industrial and IDM seamlessly and encouraged me
to explore more IDM and less the rigid Industrial structures
that I found myself locked into

Nirvana - Nevermind and My Bloody Valentine - Loveless were
easily the most influential records of the past decade.
These are albums that changed mainstream (and indy) music
pretty much overnight. They spawned countless sound-a-like
bands and brought more independant music into the light.

um..but shoegazers already existed in large numbers before
MBV who themselves seem influenced by early Cocteau Twins
and Band of Susans and not to mention Sonic Youth

Kraftwerk - "AutoBahn" or "Numbers" ot "Trans Europe
Express"...

Would Techno be the same without KW?...Would there even be
Electro without "Planet Rock" (Arthur Bakers homage to
KW...),...
