are you stoned or with a lover when listening to it (or both)? because it can get pretty boring otherwise.
however, when in either of those situations it is absolutely sublime.

Nah, it's all a matter of taste. I think it's wicked but it is an aquired taste.

it sounds very dated but if you listen to it on its own terms its a brilliant album. except for "what you want". that track is just unlistenable dross.
perfect album for rainy sunday afternoons

I'm a big fan of Durutti Column, the early albums particularly, ... there's the classic "Vini Reilly", "The Sporadic Recordings" and "Bread and Circuses" are other faves of mine.
I prefer "Isn't Anything" over "Loveless". "Soon" was meant for the aborted "Glider" album and that's why it's tacked on the end, get the EP for the other 3 TOP tracks on that. Though they were STILL meant to be working on Glider ....

really i was not into the whole thing right away. "Soon" and "Blown a Wish" sucked me in though. over a period of seven years it has been something i wanted to keep and enjoy.
if you're not into that type of stuff it usually takes something pretty special for someone to say that it's good, and i think it's good.

The trio of Kevin Shields, Colm O'Ciosiog and Bilinda Butcher (bassist Debbie Googe is not present at the sessions) are reportedly re-recording five songs that the band abandoned for their 1989 EP Glider. The EP, released in between 1988's Isn't Anything and the group's undisputed masterpiece, the dream-pop landmark Loveless, was originally meant to be a nine-song full-length album, but the band, as usual, was took too long to record it and eventually caved to pressure from the industry and released the four finished songs as an EP.
From 2003, mind you.

Word. And Only Shallow is one of the best opening tracks ever. Got to see them live this summer. Fantastic. Ten minutes of pure noise at the end.

before i knew anything about mbv, my guess was that loveless must have been released in 1997. dated? timeless! what does that mean anyway? saying something is dated? everything is dated.
on some days i prefer isn't anything, others, not. i'm sick of just having these 2, ii want other recordings by them! i know they're owt there...

literally speaking, everything is dated. I just meant that it really sounds like it was recorded at a particular time - although your jugdement has proven me wrong! I'm sure if My Bloody Valentine had all been born fifteen years later then Loveless would sound a lot different; would have more of the big grandiose feel of stuff like Sigur Ros and Godspeed.
Surely you can't deny that stuff like Analogue Bubblebath 3 and Classics sounds dated.
